“Nice place. Good value for money.”

First, location is very good, in the center of city, not that far from all interesting places and things that we wanted to see. Actually Helsinki is not that huge.
Comfortable room was big enough and clean, that really matters.
There was everything we needed: TV, fridge, microwave and kettle for making tea and coffee. Bathroom was clean, no any problems with water or anything.
For me it's important to be able to get connected to Internet, and WiFi is very good and for free there.
Good value for money.
Be prepared that there is no reception. They send you e-mail with a special code for you to get into the hotel and also text you to mobile phone. It was our first time in a hotel without reception, at first we worried a bit, but everything was really perfect, we didn't face any troubles at all . And we would recommend this hotel to our friends.

The only thing that can cause little problem it's time of check-in. It's 4pm. We arrived in the morning, so we needed to wait. Actually if you don't have much stuff with you, it's ok, you can spend time walking somewhere.

“Do not recommend”

It was warm in Helsinki during our stay and the room was like a sauna. The windows could not be opened. Sleep quality was terrible because the room was so hot. There is no reception desk so I called the "help desk" from a phone in the lobby and was told the room temperatures were controlled centrally and nothing could be done to cool our room. The hotel is non-smoking but the guests across the hall were having a smoking and drinking party in the hall. Again I called the "help desk" and was told security would come. If they came it was ignored. You absolutely cannot enter the hotel early. There is no place for left luggage. It was not good value for the money.

“Good value for money, but dirty rooms”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

It is cheap and not so far from city center (Railway station, Kamppi), but
1. it is not possible to enter hotel before 16 00 at arrival day, you can not wait in the hotel, there is no reception
2. room was not so clean, as it must be (see attached pics)

“Good location, value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

My husband, my son and I stayed at Omena Hotel Lonnrotinkatu for 5 days.
Firstly, the advantages:
1. It is very good value for money if booked in advance.
2. The room is huge - for a European hotel.
3. Excellent location - a 5 minute walk from Mannerheim street, a 7 - 8 minute walk from the station, the harbor and the good shops. The Forum , with it's many cafes, restaurants and stores, is a very short walk away if you take the short cut ( the side road and side entrance. Just keep a look out on your left while walking from the hotel to Mannerheim street). There is a mini fridge, microwave and kettle in the room - very convenient if travelling with a child.
4. There is free wifi.

Like other reviewers have mentioned, it is a good base to explore the city.
The disadvantages are
1. Don't use this hotel if your idea is just to chill in the room. There is no comfortable place to sit.
2.The room is cleaned only when you check out, or at the end of five days, so it gets a little messy, especially of you are staying with a kid.
3. It is cheap, and can be used by slightly rough elements. They didn't bother us much, except for a little noise in the corridor when they returned from their binges. However, if you are the timid sort, i wouldn't suggest that you stay there over the weekend.
4. There is absolutely no place for storage.
5. It's a little characterless and charmless.

“Pretty good option”

Omena hotel good option and cheap if you make your reserve with the time.I stayed one night in Omena hotel(Lönrothinkatu) on late September 2011 and I need to say it´s clean and comfortable just 500meters from the main street; Mannerheiminkatu. The room was for two persons and I slept very well my night. There was also small fridge ,microwave, kettñe with some tea as well coffee supplied.the thing what was curiously was there wasn´t personal staff(no control) on reception(it didn´t exist),but I guess there was security by 24hours by the cameras(?).The booking is made by internet when they gives the codic numbers to come in to the hotel and to room.Very good big and large big screen tv!.The breakfast was served in local pizzeria.
