The hotel has pretty much perfect location in Helsinki. It's as central as it could be with railway station nearby, trams/buses/metro all stop right next to it and night life/shopping possibilities spread around it. It's not too expensive, but depending on how you look at it it might not be exactly worth the money either. The rooms are sized and furnished ok with all the basic things, but the bathrooms are awfully worn out (been there twice). This time the floor tiles under shower were broken or even missing, tile seams black and moldy, racks broken from the shower so there was no place for shampoo or soap. Toilet seat was in awful condition (scratches, coloured, uneven etc), it should have been changed!
We did get a good night's sleep, thanks to AC, darkening curtains and a room to the inner yard. The "view" was awful, there was some kind of renovation being done and the workmen started at 7AM...therefore the sleep was cut early. But I guess as the renovation's over, it'll be fine.
Breakfast was very similar to any other Cumulus brekkie, but there was a bit better bread + cake selection than in others I've visited. Shame the coffee machine only made regular coffee, but there are two good coffee chains right down the street (Wayne's and Robert's), so you can get your fix! We got lovely service at breakfast, but people at reception were pretty indifferent. Dunno if I'd stay there again, most probably would try out something new.
