What I liked the most was their staff : all courteous and helpful, resolved all the issues related to my booking (they had two bookings on the same name in their system). Their breakfast was lovely with typical Nordic dishes like herring and reindeer pate. Location is perfect: next to the Hesperia Park - beautiful views and fresh air. Transportation connection is excellent, Finnair bus stop is across the street. The facility is old, but well kept. What I disliked the most were bed and bedding. Cheap and basic. Hotel is the place to sleep, so next time I will probably have to choose next door Crowne Plaza,

The hotel is a bit dated - there are notices telling you it's 40 years old everywhere. The thing that really bothered me was the static electricity. I got shocks from the door handles, the lift buttons, and even my mobile phone. I was afraid to go into my room because I knew that I was going to get zapped. My friend had the same experience.
The television was old and worn out. The sound was distorted and the picture poor. There are no signs in the corridors telling you where the lifts are. Some carpets are worn out and could trip people up. One day the chambermaid left the window open when it was minus 20 outside - not really clever.
The restaurant is very good - maybe the best value in central Helsinki. The staff were fine, rather as you would expect in a taciturn society. I would never go back there because of the static electricity - not surprisingly.

A beautiful hotel for families with children. Large, clean rooms in the style of the 70s with children's bed and a bathroom. On the first floor there are two children's playrooms. Swimming pool and sauna on the rooftop overlooking the city. The hotel is located near the city center and amusement park.

The Scandic is a place for business travellers as well as families which offers good value for its price.
The hotel is in desperate need for renovation. The interior is in the design of the 70th and looks very much worn. This is the first impression you have when entering the hotel and it continous in the lobby, the bar area as well as the aisles and corridors. Some rooms have be modernised but many of them haven't.
Some rooms have air condition some don't. If you should end up with a room facing the main street where you can not open the window because of the noise you would appreciate it having an aircondition in your room.
Staff is friendly and helpful but the front desk is often understaffed so be prepared to wait,
