We visited Hotel Seurahuone this month for one night with my wife and we'd booked the hotel mainly because of its very central location (opposite to the central railway station).
The building is very beautiful and the room was spacious. However, it was clear that the hotel has had its best times in the past and almost everywhere you could see little cracks and wears. Also the room and corridors smelled old (although I do NOT think it was mold that we smelled).
The room we got was on the 5th floor with windows to the inner ward so it was absolutely quiet during night, which was very welcome as we had an early flight to catch the next day.
We asked the staff at the reception to help us book a table at a restaurant but they had huge problems understanding that we were expecting them to help call another restaurant (not the hotel's) restaurant for a reservation. And yes, we all spoke Finnish so it wasn't about a language barrier or anything like that. Finally, we were able to get the phone number to the restaurant and we ended up booking the table ourselves. This is something we've never experienced anywhere else before, in fact, we've become very accustomed to getting excellent service from hotel staffs around the world.
We would not necessarily book this hotel as our primary choice again, but should we come up with a nice price, we might consider it.
