“Good service in a well managed hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

My experience in many Finnish hotels has been that the customers are somehow a nuisance to the staff. Personally I also often prefer fast and efficient service not intruding into my personal space. However, while stayin at Holday Inn Messukeskus, I got the feeling that the personnel are there really for the customers' comfort. We had a problem and needed to change the room. There was no reluctance from the receptionist to do the adjustments although the hotel was totally fully booked. Breakfast is very good. Bathroom could be a little bit larger.

“A very pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

I spent one night here in January on a business trip. I chose the hotel because of the gym and easy access out of the city in the morning by car, because I was going out of the city centre and wanted to avoid the traffic.
Hotel is clean, room is big enough and bed comrfortable. I guess most of the visitors are business visitors and not so many tourists as there are in the city centre hotels. Breakfast was good, plenty to choose from. Staff was frielndy and smiling! I also had a dinner at the hotel and was very pleased about the quality. Menu was good as well as food.
I guess the only minor downside is the location if one wants to spend time shopping and sightseeing. You might not want to walk 2-3km's for shopping, but there are trams going just outside the hotel, so you can easily get to centre.
All in all, I enjoyed my stay and probably will go there another time also.

“Spotless exhibition-center hotel with few questions to answer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2011

Stayed there for one night while on conference at Messukeskus.

Reception was very OK, sleeping quality good and rooms spotless.

I missed the hotel "catalog" (wasn't on the room) to see what times restaurants saunas etc are open. Bathtub was quite a small one and there were now bathrobes which led to situation where half-naked men were walking on the corridors while going to saunas on the second floor.

Also had some problems with elevator and bartenders that didn't want us to go to bar because it was too full and they couldn't give the tables for us because they were "reserved" for customers that they were hoping to come and eat there too!!!

Food at the hotel is good even though I would like more variety for the breakfast. Also voice from the corridors gets easily to your room :(

Room Tip: Choose a room from upstairs and away from the elevators and Ice-machines.

“Convenient stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

The hotel is near the convention center and so its very convenient if you have gone there for attending some conference or exhibition. It is within 1 km of the local train station and so connectivity is good. The hotel has a nice ambience and offers good food. The staff is very hospitable. It serves a delicious breakfast with huge variety.

“far from the city”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

good if you need a night after visiting the exhibition center, but poor location when visiting the city; pretty expensive for rooms that are uninspired and either too warm or too cold

Room Tip: don't expect rooms with a nice view
