I booked this hotel through a company where i could pay cash on arrival as i didn't have a credit card. €386 for 3 nights, i paid which I thought was average for a 4 star hotel. From the outside and on entry, the hotel looks like a 2 star . The decor is old and the building is screaming for a lick of paint both inside and outside. The furniture is outdated. The staff were very helpful in getting us checked in. The key for the room is about 30 years old and it was difficult to gain entry. The room itself was comfortable and warm. The en-suite was lovely where there was great pressure in the showers and the tiles were heated. However, there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room and these had to be purchased from the reception and every occassion. There was a ridiculously overpriced minibar there for the thirsty and desperate. Fancy using the gym, swim & sauna? No probs, you couldn't swing a cat in the gym, you'll get hypothermia in the pool and pay €15 per person to warm up again in the sauna!! The Hotel staff have to buzz you in and out every time you leave and enter the main and only entrance so there is no freedom of coming and going as you wish without hoping for the receptionist to spot you so she can open the door for you. This hotel isn't next or near a 4 star standard and doesn't have the 4 star facilities and shouldn't be advertised as so. It's rates, for everything are overpriced and it's an unwelcoming site from the outside. The rooms are basic, have no tea/cofee making facilities and have no trouser press or iron. The gym, pool and sauna are third world. The only good points about this hotel are the effective staff, the distance it is from the city centre (7 mins on train} when you need to get away from it all, its nice location and the breakfast which is always important and its close proximity to public transport. Hard to rate this hotel, pensioners only, maybe!
