Vaakuna is a hotel near the city of Mikkeli. It has older and newer side. This time we were in the new side. There was very quiet room just for us. Last time we had room near railroad and busy way, the noice was then terrible. When you go there, ask for quiet room, if you can´t sleep in noice!

The room was very clean, there was everything, what you could need. Service was exellent and friendly.

I like this hotel! VERY warm welcome by the staff. Well appointed and cozy room with great bed (quilts!), lots of windows, good work space, free WIFI, GREAT shower. Food in the restaurant very well prepared and excellent selection with lots of choices. Wonderful breakfast (included). THREE saunas. Massage. Fitness. A very nice hotel centrally located in the heart of Mikkeli next to the lake and the train station.

Last summer as well as this year I stayed in the Sokos Hotel Vaakuna and liked it very much to live in one of the suites. The building is situated in the center of the town, nor far away from the market-place. Mikkeli is about 200 km from Helsinki and driving-time by car is about 2,5 hours.
The suite is quite big: a spaceful living-room, a quite big bedroom, a small toilet and a big bath-room with sauna, yacuzzi and shower. Everything was very clean. A part of the furniture were "a little bit aged". The bed was very comfortable. There were 2 different televisions, one in the living-room and another one in the bedroom. I was missing newspapers or magazines at least with the TV-program.
In the living-room was a water-boiler, that I could prepare my tea. The personal was really friendly.
In the hotel they have a fine restaurant with local specialities and a good selection of wines. The breakfast was plentiful, something for everybodies taste.
The hotel has an garage which is closed for the night (cost 8 euros per 24 hours).
I enjoyed the clean sauna and the yacuzzi and I think, it was worth its higher price.

I stayed one night in Mikkeli Vaakuna in August and the they had improved since my last stay. The air condition worked much better, which was the main problem during my last stay. Food in the restaurant continued to be good, also breakfast functioned better this time compared to my earlier stay.
