I visited Gothenburg with colleagues for a business meeting and we stayed at the Arena. A little walk (seemed quite a while in the rain) from the central station, but we were greeted by a very friendly lady on reception. Single rooms are small and functional, and breakfast is limited, but for Sweden, which is never cheap, a reasonable option for a quick business visit to Gothenburg.

We stayed here for 2 nights in July as everywhere else during that time was so expensive there was some big football tournment going on. Hotel was clean and had good breakfast. Room was bright and airy but dated. The first night we couldn't get hotel parking as it was full and we should have booked in advance. So if driving be sure to secure a parking space as it was pretty costly at the car park near by. We managed to get a park the following night.

We stayed just for 2 nights and everything was lovely! the room was beautiful and had a wonderful hot-tub, which we enjoyed a lot after 2 days of walking around the city. The bathroom isn't very big, but totally comfortable and full of everything you need. we think that the room has been renewed recently. we were on the 7th floor but the lift stops at 6th.
just to let you know: we had a huge hd tv.
breakfast has a continental buffet, rich of eggs and bacon! not to forget fresh typical swedish milk.

My husband and I stayed at the Arena Hotel for a weekend break. Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Our room was average - the room decor was quite dated; the 'double bed' was actually two single beds put together with a double mattress topper covering to make the bed a double with two single quilts...not quite the comfort you get from a normal double bed; the bathroom was very unusual - you had to walk through the shower part to get to the toilet and wash basin in a separate room that had no door, and the shower itself had no basin so it was a wet room type so the whole room flooded when you did shower which made it difficult to get to the toilet without getting wet feet; the tv was very old and had one tv channel that showed old programs in english. Breakfast was ok, the fresh coffee was the best part, as there were flies crawling all over the fruit salad and cakes.

Overall, if you want somewhere just to rest then this hotel is a good choice for the price. It's a short 15-20 minute walk to the town centre and good for a couple of nights.
