“Old but ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

Pros

Excellent location
Good value
Clean
Great buffet breakfast
Quiet front facing room (onto plaza)

Cons

Dated rooms and bathroom
Heating / air con system wasn't great.
2 single beds together instead of a double

All in all not a bad place to stay. Location was pretty good, easy to find from bus terminal but Gothenburg is a small city so many others will also have a good location

Probably a top hotel 30 years ago but needs some updating.

“Functional Hotel, slightly dated design”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

The design of this hotel is slightly unusual and slightly dated, with the rooms looking down in to the lobby, rather than outside. Having said that it was probably ultra mod and impressive in its day.

The rooms are a reasonable size, clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were very good.

I was there for business, and the facilities were good.

“My favourite hotel when in Gothenburg”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

This is not the newest hotel in Gothenburg but I think it's one of the best. Good service, great location (close to the train station and city centre) and a very good breakfast buffet.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the third floor and with a view over the inside of the hotel. Most of those roo...

“Superb”

We recently stayed at the Radisson Blu Gothenburg on a very COLD windy weekend in December. The hotel was just amazing, Staff were all incredibly friendly and professional. nothing seemed to be too much hassle at all. I was upgraded to a Junior Suite and can say that it was truly amazing!

The room was internal facing like a vast majority of them so dont go expecting nice views of the city. but on the otherside it was VERY quiet and peaceful and still plenty of light coming into the rooms. the bathroom was huge to say the least. it had 2 showers and a massive bathtub to relax in after a long cold day walking around Gothenburg.

The location really couldnt get better. it was literally opposite the train station but in a quiet little corner so not much nose or motion going on around the actual hotel.

I wouldnt hesitate to recommend the Radisson Blu to anyone. and i will definentely be staying there upon my next trip to Gothenburg.

“Very outdated hotel with some flaws in central location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We chose this hotel based on the good reviews on TA. I have stayed at several hotels in the Radisson Blu-group and usually they are glossy, flawless and have good standard, even though they may feel a bit unpersonal.

The Radisson Blu hotel in Gothenburg is located at a very central spot in the city. Very close to the train station, shops and sights. It's not the most charming part of the city and there were not many interesting restaurants in the neighborhood, but a great place to stay if you're exploring the city and enjoy shopping (very close to Nordstan - a large but horrible indoor shopping center and the more fashionable NK).

We arrived by car and fortunately they had available parking (very expensive though, 250 SEK a night), later the same day all of the parking spots were taken and guests were advised to use nearby parking facilities.

My first impression of the hotel was that 1) it was busy (this is the first time in MANY years that we have not been able to check in before the official check-in time.. it's no problem, but I still found it odd..) 2) a fishy smell in the reception 3) a chlorine smell in the reception (due to the pool facilties I guess) and that the hotel itself was very (like most of Gothenburg) early 90s. It's very outdated and untrendy, not at all similar to other Radisson-hotels.

We were placed in a room without windows, it was just a view out in the common area where Christmas Parties were held every night (a lot of noise!) Also we had one of very few rooms without a balcony. The room itself had an okay size, a large bed, tv and most facilities. Funny and oddly decorated, what's with the chili? (I've seen it before at the Gardermoen-hotel) The bathroom was worn and could need refurbishing.

On the positive side, the beds were probably the best beds I've ever slept in (Hästens). The breakfast buffet was chaotic, but the food was great!
At a good rate, this hotel is an okay choice because of the central location, but I'm pretty sure we'll chose another hotel next time we're in Gothenburg!

Room Tip: Beware that you might end up with a room inside of the building, a bit claustrophobic..
