I booked this hotel for our 5-day city break despite the fairly mixed reviews - sometimes you just have to take a chance, and the price was right! And the good news is, we were extremely happy with what we got. After a super-early flight, we arrived at the hotel at about 10:00hrs hoping to drop off our bags. However, our room was ready, so we were able to check in and freshen up before hitting the town. The room was certainly compact, but well designed so that we didn't feel cramped, the bathroom was lovely & clean, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The breakfast was amazing, great choice & plentiful and the dining area was nice and comfy. Make your own waffles, they are tasty! Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to use the sauna and gym on the 8th floor, but those facilities are available which is nice. The hotel is about 10-15 mins from the city centre, but the tram stop is literally outside the door and trams seemed to run every 6 minutes, so we were able to get around easily. Gothenburg seems like a pretty small city, so I don't really understand the complaints about location...There is a large ICA supermarket about a 10 minute walk away if you need supplies and a great park (Slottskogen) around the corner -perfect for a lazy Sunday, with animals, crazy golf, and plenty of snack shacks. We would definitely stay at this hotel again, it was a great place.
HOTEL TIP: No toiletries - take your own!
HOLIDAY TIP:If you are there for a few days, get the Goteborg card - free entry to tons of places and free travel on public transportation.
Room Tip: We stayed at the back of the hotel, looking onto a play park, so our room was lovely and quiet.
