“Great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

Stayed at the grand opera with easyjet holidays in December for a weekend. The location is ideal for exploring the city, with buses and trams close by. As others have said, the plush reception is deceptive if you're staying in one of the old rooms, which are far from 4*. Small rooms with dated decor, but comfy bed, big tv (with english channels) and good shower so fine for a weekend- just don't expect luxury!

Breakfast was good, if very busy, with a good selection of cold food And a few hot options. We also ate in the restaurant one night and enjoyed the meatballs - pretty reasonable prices for an expensive city.

Room Tip: Pay for a room in the new building if you can

“city centre, great breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

very convenient in the city centre with view to the central station. The rooms were small, but comfortable. The beds were super. Breakfast was rich and variated.

“Great location and value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

We travelled to Gothenburg at the end of September via a Groupon deal with Easyjet holidays and were a bit nervous of travelling on a deal, especially after reading some of the earlier reviews. However my wife and I were very pleasantly surprised! The hotel was really easy to get to (a very cost effective bus from the airport drops you almost outside the hotel. The hotel is situated centrally for all the touristy bits and shops. The staff were really welcoming and helpful plus they all speak better english than me! The room was in the modern bit of the hotel and was clean, modern and ideal for a short break. Real value for money. The rooms have a timer on the bathroom power resulting in the hairdryer and towel rail not always working when we wanted but that was a minor issue. If you go to Gothenburg be aware that the city pretty well closes on a Sunday evening and it was really difficult to find a restaurant open! Even the hotel restaurant was closed! Overall a good weekend break.

Room Tip: The modern part of the hotel is nice. I haven't seen the other part but have read the reports!

“Great value, great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

This is a great hotel with perfect location for sightseeing or business in Downtown.
We arrived by train and walked everywhere.
Very nice breakfast too.
I don't know where the room is in the review that is not great, they were very nice here and I would expect if you have any concerns they would help if you asked them. .
Our room was fantastic, over looked the street, not noisy!
We did not eat dinner at the hotel or use the other facilities we wanted to explore Gothenburg. (Take the Padden tour).
Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for one at check in !

“Lovely hotel central location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

We have just returned from the Grand Hotel Opera in Gothenburg and were not dissapointed with the hotel we stayed on a BB basis and the breakfast had more than enough on offer to start you off for the cold day ahead. The staff were friendly and more than helpful with restaurant recommendations within the city. We were in a suite on the 7th floor and the room was very comfortable with great views of the city.

Our only complaint was almost all the tourist attactions had closed on the 1st October so not much to do. We were only there for 2 days so were able to fill our days. From what the taxi driver told us Summer is the time to visit as the Theme Park, tourist hop on hop off bus and boat rides all in operation!!!

Not sure we will rush back but glad we went.

Room Tip: The 7th floor had great views corner suite
