Rica Hotel Goteborg is situated not far from the Central Railway Station on the gloomy and dark, but quiet street. You'll probably will not get a portion of enthusiasm while walking this street late at night. Please note, that a few taxi drivers know where this hotel is located and sometimes confuse it with other hotel called Erika.

The ground floor of the hotel is not nice at all, especially lift area. The only exception is the reception desk. However, the staff is ok.

After crappy lobby area a room seems to be nice at a glance. But after a few moments your notice that it is quite old, all the bathroom equipment shall be replaced or at least washed, hot water starts to run a couple of minutes after you have turned it on.

The best thing about this hotel is the price. It is cheap. Plus the location is not that bad. An ideal option for those who don't want to live at hostel and at the same time don't want to pay crazy money for 4 or 5 star hotels.

This hotel is fairly well situated a couple of hundred meters from central station, however it's very much closer to the railroad tracks which might disturb a light sleeper. The rooms are rather small but enough (TV mounted in the roof making the only place to watch it being from laying down in the bed - no place for the TV anywhere else i guess). The breakfast is very good and the staff are polite and helpful. Free internet but seams to be routed through Ricas Norwegian server since all search results turns up in Norwegian as default...Gym card can be bought to the almost next door gym. During 2010 the hotel is undergoing a renovation from top floor to bottom floor which unfortunately will be noticed since the rooms in the targeted floor still are in use. A smell of concrete lingers in the hall...Wait until the renovation is completed!

Buses and trains near the hotel disturbs a bit. If you can maybe you should ask for a room that doesn't face the station, maybe that helps? Recently started rebuilding is also disturbing, but that is a temporary matter . The breakfast and the personel are the few positive things of this hotel, and of course if you prefer a hotel near the station.
