“Nice hotel but what about service this time!?”

Stayd at this realy nice hotel with my family to attend my moms funeral in a town 4 miles away. My family at this time consists of 3 persons with our 2 year old kid including stephmom.

The rooms are perfect and the view from the room was towards the river and you could see salmon jumping. You can hear the water and have a beutyfull view from balcony. Parkings are outside the hotel and P-house aviable.
This hotel itself looks and feels nice, placed in the near center of Falkenberg.

The town are a very sleepy town and everything closes early so it kind of feels like a ghost town If you not used to it. Anyway I would recomend this hotel accept for the problem we got with service.

The huge failure in service:
As working on my moms funeral I was a 40 minutes drive away from the hotel and my family stayed at the hotel in the evning. My wife called me up stressed and at "wrong" time crying. Her credit card was by mistake with our stephmoter after funeral and out of reach. Suddenly the card registred in Hotel was not "correct" registred my wife was told so nothing could be billed on the room anymore. Our kid was crying and hungry but they refused In any way to help her out, even with registred card and room key and one night alredy spent in hotel. They don´t even give your kid crackers, peanuts and the restaurant wont even help with any kind of food because of this. Now listen to this:
I drove 80 minutes back and forth to give my wife my creditcard and when finaly my stephmom shows up in the evning, THE CARD REGISTRED ON RECEPTION SUDDENLY ARE VALID AND STEPHMOM PUT SODA ON THE ROOM WITHOUT PROBLEMS!

Room Tip: Get the rooms on 2nd floor with balcony and view at the water..

“Gentle relaxation with a view ...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2010

Used this property as a touring base for the Halland area of Sweden. Large room with river view, small terrace and comfortable seating area of leather sofa and armchair. Large well equipped bathroom with a spa bath. Flat screen TV mostly Swedish local channels but a couple of international news ones too.

Breakfast selection good, well presented and wide choice. All service friendly and helpful.

Quality of dinner menu excellent and with an attentive Maitre D' but their restaurant lacks any ambiance as a dinner venue. Unfortunately, the restaurant is no more than a nightclub dance floor with tables and chairs on it in the week. Next door is the excellent Restaurang Gustaf Bratt which really does have some ambiance and style.

Previous correspondents have highlighted how pleasant Falkenberg is as a destination in its own right - I second that. A lovely little town with good shopping, a preserved old town and pleasant river walks and views.

Hotel parking is free but limited - you may have to use on-street parking outside at a small fee.

My only problem was the supposed free wi-fi. Yes there is a hotel wi-fi hub. Weak signal, weird network settings, painfully slow - absolutely unusable. I bought a one-week Telia HomeRun deal for 100SEK which gave me very fast service, strong signal and no problems.

In the week the clientele consists of the usual Scandiavian business travellers and coach tours. Be under no illusions - the property is a major weekend nightclub spot and absolute party central. In the week it is beautifully quiet.

We had a really pleasant chilled time and I would recommend it

“don't stay on saturday unless you go to the niteclub”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 October 2009

The hotel was nice, the rooms were clean, the beds were really comfortable & the staff were really friendly & helpful. The breakfast was ok too. The town itself is lovely, quite a lot of old buildings & cobbled streets, a lovely coffee shop called the Lounge. We had a lovely stay on friday night, but on Saturday the music from the night club was loud enough to wake me & my young son- and really difficult to get back to sleep until the revelers made their way hhome or back to there rooms between 3 & 4am.. I had asked for a room away from the noise as I had read a previous review & we were given a lovely room on the 2nd floor overlooking the river. Unfortunately it wasn't far enough away from the music. I think the nite club sounded good - but don't stay there on a saturday unless you are very hard of hearing or planning on partying the night away.

“Wonderful stay at The Grand Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 March 2009

We just had to stay for one night at this hotel, but we were pleasently surprised how great the stay was. We had to do some christmas shopping in the huge shopping center Gekäs, and instead of driving back to Copenhagen the same day, we decided to stay for one night at a cheap hotel.

We looked at the different hotels at the Falkenberg area, and found a great offer at the Grand Hotel in Falkenberg. The price for one night was 650 swedish kroner including breakfast and parking. That was very cheap, so I was pretty sure we would get a room with a view to the dumpsters or something like that.

When we arrived to the hotel it looked amazing. In the middle of the city of Falkenberg and just next to the river. The extremely friendly receptionist upgraded us to the top floor to an amazing superior room with its own balcony overlooking the river. I have stayed at hundreds of hotels, but this was the first time I have ever been upgraded, so I will be that receptionist ever greatful :-)

This is not a huge modern hotel. The elevator we could barely be in, but the hotel has a lot of charm and the staff is very friendly.

The breakfast was also a great surprise. Strangely enough we were the only two people in the breakfast restaurant this sunday morning. I did not see any other guests at the hotel as well. They still had a huge breakfast buffet though, with lots of bread, yoghurt, eggs, bacon, sausage, juices, pastry, fruit...and lots of other things.

The city of Falkenberg is really nice with nice looking restaurants and shops.

Please keep in mind that this review is based on the room we got with the upgrade. If we got the room we paid for the rating probably would be different.

Sorry about tha bad quality pictures, but it was taken with a cell phone.
