“Good Hotel for a business trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2010

I stayed there for 3 nights for a business trip, check in was a breeze. fast and no hassle. the room is pretty standard for a single bed. a little note the bed is too soft for my liking, i woke up with a backache. having free wi fi surely is a plus.
bar downstairs have pretty good beer selections. at least it has guiness and kilkenny on tap.
location: right on the main street, supermarket next door, restaurants and shopping are all close by

“Great location, very clean, outstanding staff! - U.S. guest”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 April 2010

I stayed here for 7 nights with a colleague. The rooms are clean and adequate with comfortable single beds and laminate floors.
The bathroom has soap wall dispensers over the sink and tub. They do not provide individual bars of soap, shower caps etc. I would have liked a box of tissues in the room. My only problem in the bathroom was the hot water faucet in the tub. It was difficult to turn the hot water to a cooler temperature.
The wi-fi worked wonderfully in my room. I was on my computer several times a day at various times without any problems.
The staff at the front desk were among the friendliest I have ever encountered! Very accommodating and delightful to work with.
My room was on the 4th floor, closer to the bar end. The only time I really heard the bar patrons was on Friday night. Ear plugs blocked them out.
Breakfast provided an assortment of; cereal, yogurt, meat, cheese, vegetables and bread. All was fresh and nicely displayed.
If you stay here or are visiting Boras, try the charming little coffee shop 2 doors away from the hotel. It is a delightful shop for coffee and a small meal.

“Last time for me at the Jazz”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2009

I've stayed at the Jazz (previously Vaveren) on many occasions. My customer books the hotel so I do get a favourable rate - much lower than the Scandic. On the plus side it's very central in Boras, it's clean and there's free Wifi. However, the single rooms are tiny and like the previous reporter experienced, both myself and my colleague found the rooms very hot this week. The window has to be shut when facing the street or it's too noisy. On top of this someone was doing repairs with a hammer drill in the next room from 07.25 am. Next time in Boras we'll either pay up at the Scandic (which is very good) or look for another option at the price of the Jazz.

“Not satisfied”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2009

I might have been unlucky with my room, but I had a general bad experience at this hotel.

First of all I was placed at the top floor facing to the main street of Borås. During summer it gets very warm in the room - especial during the night when the sun starts to shine. I opened the windows but there was simply too much noise from traffic.
So I had to sleep without any sheet

Since I was on a business trip I really want to do some work in the evenings, but the wireless connection was so bad that it was impossible for me to work in the room. And the ridiculous part was that it was working fine just outside the room, so I had to go to out to the corridor in order to get my mails and use the internet.

I would not stay at this hotel again - especially because the Scandic Plaza 50 meters away is around same price but far much better value

“Give the Varvaren a try. Boras is worth a visit.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 March 2003

I stay at the Varvaren often - about once a month. The rooms are small and perhaps most appropriate for only a one night stay, but the hotel is central, fairly quiet and inexpensive. The bar is lively, the staff are friendly and welcoming and Sweden Hotels have a reasonble frequent stay scheme.Don't forget the sauna on the top floor or the town's textile museumJohn
