My friend who lives in the city booked this for me. Basic single room for 70 euros. Stayed 2 nights - arrived Saturday. Was small but adequate. Clean and modern. Bathroom was good with standard amenties. Minor irritation was that water from the shower leaked under the shower screen. Was also a leak from the toilet cistern. The lft only had external doors which surprised me. One ground floor lift door was broken.
I love having a menu for pillows. Perhaps this is a common service in hotels but it's new to me.
Building itself is impressive inside and out. Good service. Standard Swedish brekfast buffet (love those options of soft and hard boiled eggs).
Shame that it looks out onto a pretty minging concrete building from the front. Thank god the square separates it!
Obviously very convenient that Ryanair fly from Vasteras - they didn't the last time i was there.
I don't know if i would visit if my friend didn't live there....

Vasteras is a charming city,with much to see and a pleasant lakeside setting.Low cost airlines and general aviation use Vasteras airport for access to Stockholm-but this is a much more pleasant place to stay than the larger city.The hotel has an imposing dark stucco facade around a small courtyard,with a first floor ballroom(now conference hall) and tower to one side.
Reception is cheerful and efficient,and we reached our fourth floor room(408) by the very efficient elevators with manual outer doors and no inner door.We had a view of the cathedral beyond a small garden with mediaeval buildings around.There was very little noise at night,despite the central location.The bed was the usual Swedish type with a thin(no plastic cover) mattress on sprung base,and comfortable.The only amenity lacking was a proper bath,but these are very rare in this country.The shower was large enough for two-so sufficient floor area for a tub.
Breakfast,in a grand first floor room, was excellent,but busy with conference guests.
There is an Olde Englishe style "pub" on the ground floor,rather than a conventional restaurant. The "fake" furnishings are actually genuine on close inspection,and the food greatly exceeded expectations.There were about 100 beers,

We stayed here for one night, and had booked two 'superior' rooms as we'd seen some previous reviews about the hotel being a bit tired. These tuned out to be very basic, small and to be frank rather shabby and dirty. We eventually agreed to pay extra to upgrade to deluxe rooms, which were better, but even then one of them still had a very dated and scruffy bathroom (cracks in the sink, poorly fitting bath panels etc). It's a shame, as the hotel has real character and potential to be something special, and the receptionist was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was surpisingly good, and in a dining room that was light, airy and stylish. Overall though, I'd avoid until they complete a full facelift!

This hotel is ok, not best value hotel in town though.
Room size is ok,
Furnitures are worn out,
Bathroom is worn out.
Staff are great and very helpful.
IF I had the choice I would stay at First in Västerås.
