Typical average hotel. Stayed here from 26/12-27/12 in connection with the Eric Prydz concert near by. Location is OK. The sauna/jacuzzi-area had a scent of beer and alcohol, there were empty cans and bottles everywhere. Disgusting, the staff should do regulary cleaning here to make sure this does not happen.

Stayed one night on a cosmos tour. Excellent breakfast. Room okay but a bit put off finding previous occupant rubbish still left in garbage bin. Just makes you wonder about the rest. But all looked okay.

Stayed here on business for 2 night, -16 deg outside with loads of snow. Hotel was excellent, great facilities including the treadmill in the basement for running, (not brave enough to attempt the ice covered streets). Would imagine that saunas are a standard in all Scandinavian hotels as these facilities were excellent. Very clean. Nice breakfast and handy shop for food in reception. Would definitely recommend

No frills here, but no disappointments either. It's a clean, well-located but ultimately clinical hotel, perfectly acceptable but unlikely to leave you giving gushing praise. Karlstad was a pleasant base for a few days, and the free daily cycle hire provided by the local tourist office is a great idea and really helpful for getting around. Decent places to eat are somewhat limited, but we'd particluarly recommend a restaurant called Koriander - one of the best meals we had in the whole of our two-week holiday in Sweden.
