Stayed one night at drott hotell in karlstad. very nice staff and the evening dinner buffe that whas includes in the price was perfect. after dinner we joined the bubbelpool at top floor, very nice spa-area. the room was calm and the beds very comfi.the hotell is central located in karlstad but still very calm and relaxing. lovely weekend. thanks!!

Most buildings in the station area of Karlstad are realtively modern; the Drott is one of the older ones at about 1905.Thre are still some interesting stone carvings around the keyhole shaped street doorways,and some fine ironwork around the lift,which puts its larger modern counterpart around the corner to shame for speed and quietness.
We had a superior room on the fourth floor,with plenty of space,two armchairs, and a fine chandelier with real light bulbs-no compact fluorescents anywhere in the hotel.The beds are Swedish style with two side by side sprung bases under thin mattresses with no plastic covers-very good. The corner location means traffic noise with QUADRUPLE GLAZED windows open ,but quiet with them closed.There was a fan,and teamaking facilities.The reception staff were efficient,and interested in our welfare.
The hotel is especially good value in view of the free evening buffet-one traditional meat item,one fish,soups and many cold choices.

Stopped in Drott on the way from Sockholm to OSlo. Karlstad is quite a quite town and the hotel very nice, although the small lift that look like it's taken out of the 50s movie was a bit sceary an 1st, but upon using it we realised it works very well. Cozy rooms, high speed internet free, ok food, basically al you need from a hotel in Kartlstad when staying for a night. Would recommend as a stopover hotel.
