The rooms are simple and basic as the Scandics are known to be. The bathroom had a slightly musty smell, but otherwise things in the room were fine. The location is great, right in town. There is a street/square with a lot of restaurants just a couple of blocks away. The breakfast was excellent and well stocked despite being very busy. The staff is very good, with the exception of a wake-up call placed with the front desk that never occurred. Scandic is very "green" and I'm fine with the recycling, lack of shampoo/conditioner bottles and even the lack of air conditioning, but I do with they had bars of soap. The wireless Internet was flawless.

I am wrong to assume all Scandic Hotels have reasonable quality. I say so after staying at this hotel. They have very small lift and out of the two lifts only one works (at least only one was working at that time) making it difficult to go up or down. We were 4 persons and had to wait for more than 15 minutes to take lift for going down for breakfast. We had taken two rooms and both the rooms had ventilation problem.

Breakfast was above average.

I must admit this is one of the toughest reviews so far. I give this hotel a 4, but it's a weak one.

The hotel is centrally located in Karlstad and has plenty of cheap parking places outside. Staff, very friendly and helpful. Restaurant has a good selection on the menu and both a bar and restaurant option.

My room was a bit basic but had good twin beds, tv and free wireless internet. Shower was a bit unusual, a small shower alcove. But it was adequate. Parts of the hotel showed some age and in need for restauration.

I didn't like the breakfast room as it was always crowded. The buffet breakfast itself was good with hot and cold dishes. This part I like, breakfast was, and should be included in the room price and it's more and more standard in Swedish hotels. But the area was crowded and a bit stressful both days I stayed here. Seemed to be a bit underdimensioned.

This is a good hotel and it has all facilities needed for a business/tourist. Don't expect any luxury or glamour, so no honeymoons would fit in here.

Relatively modern hotel. Room was spacious with 2 good beds, a comfortable sofa, wide screen TV, working table and chair. Free wireless Internet worked well. Bathroom had a shower but no curtain and there was water all over the floor. View from the room was limited to a brick wall 2 meters away. Bar and restaurant served traditional food which was good and reasonably priced and the service was very friendly. Breakfast was a good Swdish style buffet. All in all a good tourist class hotel.
