“Has its ups and downs”

Was staying here for work purpose so I really wanted a good nights sleep but for some reason the rooms are far too hot , there is no air conditioning and because of where the hotel is located it is too noisy to open a window.also the water pipes underneath the sink make an awful lot of noise especially at night.

The staff are friendly and very helpful, having kitchens in the rooms is very handy.the hotel is about 10 mins walk from the train/bus station and is also within 10 mins of the main shopping district.also the free wi fi is a bonus....when it works!

“A room with a kitchen”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

I got a so called "budget room" at this hotel. The reservation staff also informed me that this rooms were not refurbished, as some other rooms were. Even with this in mind I got was surprised to find a kitchen in my room. I walked into a small one room apartment with kitchen, kitchen sink, refrigerator, microwave, water boiler, plates and glasses and so on. Over all, the room was rather dull and uninspired. Marks on the walls showing where stuff used to hang, plastic carpets and a bed that was more like a bunk. TV and DVD-player in the room. Breakfast was average by Swedish standards.

Room Tip: Avoid the budget rooms with apartment equipment unless you're looking for a cheap way of eating...

“"Good enough hotel" in central Uppsala”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

I have stayed in this hotel a couple of times, especially when they offer reduced prices on weekends. The hotel is situated in central Uppsala with the leading shopping mall just around the corner but still easy to reach by car or for that matter by bus or train, since the railway station is just around 3 blocks away. The hotel does not have their own garage or parking but there is a public parking garage (locked during the night) in the basement with an elevator direct to the hotel reception. The hotel itself is rather big with over 200 rooms. The rooms are rather spacious but but gives a rather empty and worn impression with just the neccessary furniture. Everything is clean, however, the beds are comfortable and you get fresh towels every day, so there is really nothing to complain about. The breakfast buffet contains what you normally find on hotel buffets but without that extra finesse. For example, the bread was somewhat stale on my last visit. As a bonus, everyone gets a coupon worth 50 SEK per night valid in the pub adjacent to the hotel reception. Conclusion: I can definitely recommend this hotel if you can get at a reduced price compared to the other major hotels in central Uppsala. If not - choose one of the others.

“Overprised and uncomfortable”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

The purpose of my trip was business and I stayed for 5 nights in a single room

There is nothing that I like about this hotel except the location. Overprised and no service.

First impression when I entered the room was bad, the sparse decor is more in line with how a prison cell might be decorated than how a hotel room should look like.

The walls in my room were dirty and everything was worn and outdated. The small bed (90 cm wide) was uncomfortable, the duvet thin and did not provide enough warmth for the temperature and humidity. One thin pillow and no blanket. I did not sleep well.

Two chairs in the room but both hard wooden chairs and not made for a person that needs to unwind after a busy day.

TV fine but not possible to watch the from the bed without rearranging the furniture. Internet connection complimentary and stable. The room had a DVD player which I find strange and useless, who travels with a DVD collection?

Bathroom floor flooded when the shower was turned on, quite unpleasant. Strange smell of the towels which were also worn and torn on the edges.

I will never stay at this hotel again and will not recommend it to anyone.

“Nice average hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

I stayed here for two days. The breakfast was included in my bill. Breakfast was okay. Two bottles of water a day was also included. They also had a dvd player in the room, bud no dvd:s so I did not use it -- it´s not like you travel around with your dvd collection :-).

A good thing was that the wireless Internet is free of charge for unlimited computers. There is a non-free garage under the hotel if you have a car.

Overall, clean, average, and acceptable hotel for "just staying over" in Uppsala.
