“Lovely views but rather overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

Brilliant location, overlooking the river (in fact you can't get a more picturesque area in town), few minutes walk to shopping centre and main square and 7-10 min. walk to train station, so don't bother with taxis even in cold weather. Looks more new and luxurious at the pictures than it actually is. Typical Swedish as far as breakfast (all 3 different hotels I stayed in the country serve identical breakfast!), free WiFi and customer service concerns: cold, distant but effective. No major problems. A shop at lobby area, open 24/7 where you can buy essentials from thermal under ware to snacks and hot drinks is an advantage. Very comfy bed: slept very well. However overpriced for what it offers: no toiletries in the bathroom, tea/coffee tray or any other "treat" that will make you feel special at the price of 200 euros for a standard room per night. A nice restaurant with river views (operates as breakfast room also) with a long wine list and some interesting dishes: the salmon main course is highly recommended. Don't even bother for the lemon tart.

“Great location, great breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

We stayed two nights at this hotel and it completely met our expectations. It is located by the river, close to the train station and it is easy to find it you come by car. You can park just outside the hotel, the fee is ok, 100 SEK for 24 hours, or 50 SEK if the closest one is full and you have to park across the street, there is also parking in the garage. We got a room facing the river and the view is very nice with a large window and a french balcony. Internet is free. The room was ok in size with good storage possibilities, very comfy bed. The breakfast buffet was great, there is a wide range of things to choose from and many organic items. On Sundays they serve breakfast until 12 which is a big plus and the housekeeping starts late so you dont get disturbed. The city center is 5 minutes away by foot so its perfectly situated for walking along the river or exploring the shopping in Linköping. The hotel has a 24-hour open shop in the lobby, and an empty refrigerator in your room. They also have an eco-friendly approach which i appreciated.

Room Tip: try to get a room facing the river

“No impression”

I stayed one night in this hotel and it is a typical business hotel with no thrills.
Rooms are standard and boring comes in mind. The beds were not comfy and I didn't sleep well.
My sheets where dirty and the pillow was....
The food was not too bad but nothing special either. So.... middle class

Room Tip: Find a better one

“Definitely stay again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

We love Linköping because it is such a picturesque regional centre, steeped in tradition yet modern in its emphasis on innovation and education, and set in the beautiful countryside of southern Sweden. On our last visit we stayed at the Scandic City Hotel and would definitely stay there again. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially the lady who cleaned our room and who was very kind to us. Our superior room was large and modern, with a good size bathroom that had its own window. Our room was on the top floor overlooking the Kinda Canal and the city, and we had a fantastic view of parkland and elegant city architecture from the bedroom (and bathroom!), as well as the balcony with its pots of autumn flowers. The free wifi was invaluable for keeping in touch and the king size bed was comfortable and big enough for both of us and our three-year old son. The breakfast buffet in the naturally lighted restaurant was sumptuous, with a tremendous variety of fresh choices, including breads, fruits, yogurts as well as full cooked options. We also ate in the restaurant for an evening meal which was tasty and filling (our son loved the Swedish meatballs). The city centre with vibrant Swedish design shops, weekday fruit markets and chic outdoor bars and cafés are a short walk across the foot (and bicycle) bridge, and if you are travelling with children be sure to visit the fantastic playground in the big park called Trädgårdsföreningen at the end of the street called Linnégatan (which can be accessed from the pathway by the Kinda Canal).

Room Tip: Book a room on the top floor overlooking the Kinda Canal

“Quality Swedish-style hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

Nice business hotel in Swedish style; rooms are comfortable, right temperature and lighting, and efficient windows curtains, which is everything but obvious to find in Nordic countries. Excellent having free hi-speed lan in every room. Only minus in the rooms are the empty refrigerator, and the very strange layout of the restroom; the shower is separated by toilet by a movable plastic curtain, and that's it; if you take a shower, the restroom will be inundated for the next 5 minutes. This must be something Swedish, as saw it somewhere else in Sweden. Not good.
Good and variated Scandinavian breakfast included in the room charge; did not try the restaurant, but the bar has a good ambience and a good variety of drinks available. And if you ask for peanuts to go with your aperitive, you'll get plenty of it. And that's good!
People at the reception very kind and professional. For sure would recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the river, the view is much better than the parking lot.
