“Tranquil and wholesome environment but choose your room to make it worth it”

Spent 2 days there rejuvenating - I did not have more time else would certainly like to do that. The food there are served by 2 restaurants Soma (breakfast and dinner) and Amerita (lunch). Food is wholesome and tasty. Only organic and natural ingredients. They told me that for 3000 - 4000 thai baht per person per day, I can have all the food I want per day. I did not take that - as I did not think that I would eat all that much - after all - that is not the purpose of the trip. My per day food expense was probably about 40% of that just ordering ala carte and what I really want to eat.

I did not have time for a wellness course which is basically minimum of 3 days. So I went ala carte. So - just plan the trip to be there for a longer period. My room payment included a screening and consultation by naturopath. Not quite impressed as she only shared very basic info - anything more payment is required.

But the environment was great - simply tranquil. Resort was right next to the beach - so there is ample opportunity to also lie on the beach to experience the breeze.

I took a sea view villa - very little sea view which makes the higher price not worth it in my view. The villa was on walking trail level with many people walking by - so not much privacy. There were some hill villas which offered much more privacy.

Having said all that, I would still return to this place - just because of the environment and the food. I enjoyed myself.

Room Tip: Depends on what you one. If you like privacy - ask for one that does not have people walking right...

“You'll leave feeling better than when you arrived!”

I was not sure about going to Kamalaya, as the price is far more than I ever spend on a hotel, but I am very glad I did! This is far more than a hotel or resort - it is truly a wellness sanctuary! The staff is very attentive, the food is amazing, and the wellness offerings are plentiful. I went for their optimal fitness program. I had appointments every day with personal trainers and I participated in daily class, as well as did independent workouts. But, these were balanced with massages and other forms of relaxation. I also seemed to have plenty of free time to laze on the beach or by the pool. In only 5 days I lost 5 pounds AND had more energy than I've had in years!

If you are interested in relaxing and health, this is a supportive and fun place to be. Little things make a big difference - like every time you sit down, I full glass of water appears. They really want you to be hydrated. At any time, ginger or lemongrass tea are available. They have systems for solo travelers, so you don't feel alone, if you choose.

Overall, I fully enjoyable vacation that made me feel great. As far as the price goes, since I paid one price and didn't have to rent a car or pay for transportation or pay for meals or entertainment, it wasn't so bad in the end. I will plan another trip here!

The only drawback is if you want to see Thailand. I had no desire to leave the spa, as I spend lots of time every year in Thailand. But, many of the guests felt that they weren't seeing any of the country. There are tours of the area - but, you won't see much that way. If you want to see the country - I would plan on a few days before/after your spa stay to do that.

Room Tip: Sleep quality would have been better (the room was lovely), but drinking all that water had me up ev...

“Best health oriented spa resort”

2012 will be my 4th year of returning to Kamalaya. I went there in 2008 to detox suffering with exhaustion in between jobs. Once i was there I simply had to come back. The health program is amazing, the staff and their smiles are something I miss the moment I get back on a flight, the available sports and alternative medicine treatments just great. I could not recommend this place enough. Going back in March for my annual ritual! It has been a five year journey for me so far, but the result is that I am healthier and feeling better, as every year I learn something new that I apply to my daily eating and lifestyle routine. Check out the healthy eating recipes on kamalaya's website as well, if you thought vegetarian is dull, you would be very surprised! Enjoy!

“A new vision to life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Reached Kamalya hoping to be another good place, we reached late in the night and checked in, our hopes were not changed yet. The staff has left spinach soup, whole wheat bread, salads and fruits for us in the room, incase we felt hungry - as the dining hall was closed when we reached. This moved us and we knew this was not just another good place.
The place started growing us on us with every passing moment. We went for the Tai Chi class and then again for water aerobics, we were not part of any program. They still has enough to offer the complete day. Then we headed for our body compostion test and it turned out to be an eye opener with a long discussion with the consultant. Just how easily we can change our life style was the outcome.
Kamalaya not only is great for treatments, but also its health food, location, ambience and the warm staff. The small touches which make a great difference. The GM welcomed us in the morning and was there to see us off. Go there it will change your life style for ever - healthy living will become your top priority.

Room Tip: If you can afford please take the sea facing rooms

“heaven on earth”

It was my third time at Kamalaya. The first time I went with my husband, second time with husband and daughter, and this time alone. Each time was wonderful, but this was the best experience. I think it’s great for solo traveler, good for couples, but not the best for families. I stayed at the standard villa for two nights, which has a huge veranda with two day beds and great ocean, pool, and garden views. It also has a great outdoor bathroom and shower. The landscape is so beautiful, and you can find peace and perfect view from so many corners. The hotel was designed with perfect harmony into nature. It has the most amazing steam sauna build into a cave. Three small dipping pools on hilltop, a few steps higher than the previous one and with perfect privacy and views. It’s a perfect place to de-stress, detox, and be by yourself. You will feel like a new person after a short stay there. You also have the option to meet with fellow travelers by chosing to dine at the communal table. The staff are super nice. When I asked for late-check out, they let me stayed in my room until as late as I needed without any extra charge. I checked out at 5:30 PM! Highly recommend it!

Room Tip: villas with beach view
