Considering this is the only hotel in Mellerud, Sweden, it’s hard not to decide to stay here if visiting this small town on Lake Vanern.
Nevertheless, it is defiantly a nice hotel at a fairly reasonable price. The distinguishing feature, however, has got to be its dining area and adjoined bar. Both are designed with deep, and rich mahogany wood floors and brass accents throughout. The lighting in both the dining room and bar are defiantly discerning and of high quality.
The dining room has an elevated ceiling, with balcony seating looking out into the main dining area. Large picture windows within the dining area allow plenty of sunlight in and give a nice view looking out.
Breakfast is typical Scandinavian fare and is complementary when staying at the hotel.
The rooms, themselves, are above average in size, with thin carpet, a tv in a console, an armoire and beds that are moderately comfortable. Overall, the rooms are very basic, with not too much flair. The bathrooms are all vinyl with a shower surrounded by a plastic partition draining into the floor.
The hotel rooms have their floors elevated off the ground and tend to creak a bit when walking over them. The walls between the rooms are on the thinner side and not overly soundproof. However, in all my stays in Scandinavia, this is the first hotel I've stayed at that had an oscillating fan available for creating a bit of noise when sleeping at night. In addition, the hotel rooms sit off the main street, so no worry about traffic noise.
Overall, my 2 nights staying at the Wardshuset Pa Dal were a pleasant and enjoyable experience and I wouldn't hesitate staying here again.
