“Good Basic Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I stayed here for a 2 week period during 2 cold weeks in Stockholm and was impressed that the temperature of the room was perfect at all times, not once did I feel too hot or too cold. the room was medium sized and basic but surprisingly comfortable. The sofa-bed style couch was not as stylish as those found in hotels usually, but it was incredibly comfortable and long enough to lay out, or curl up and fall asleep watching TV.

Only one small very thin pillow...which seems to be the swedish way, but I like big comfy pillows..

Ok Hotel, Ok breakfast, WiFi Internet worked reliably and quite fast. Only tried the hotel dinner one night, and it was OK. Small family run feeling to the hotel, despite being part of Best Western, and all the staff very helpful and pleasant. Two of the 4 pieces of gym equipment were broken.... but Sauna and jacuzzi were working fine.

Despite the few minor niggle above the hotel was good value and recommended, would stay there again....

“Ok for one or two nights!!!!”

Stayed here for one night in february! About 5 below zero when i came here...
Floor in room was very cold. No carpet, it has some parquett floor! And the bathroom floor was also cold... No heating in the floor!!!
The staff was Nice and polite.. I had dinner in the hotel restaurant, chicken filet and roast potatoes wich tasted great, and was not expensive at all. (140SEK) compliments to the chef!!!
Breakfast was good, scrambled eggs tasted good, in some hotels they taste nothing..
Location was ok, didnt have time to check around årsta or Stockholm. The hotel is close to the road but i couldnt hear the traffic so that was good!
If you come in a car, the hotel has a parking lot just 15 metres outside.. And it is free of charge.. They just write down your licenseplate number

All inn all i would stay here again,
Best western delivers a good package, i payed ca 680 NOK and i think it was worth it!

“Reasonable Place to stay.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2011

I stayed in this hotel for a conference in Stackholm International fairs. The Staff were OK and so was the Bar/Breakfast etc. The hotel is walking distance from Arstaberg train station and only two stops away from Stockholm Central, with buses stopping close to the hotel, transport was convinient. However, the trip tp Stockholm central did cost 44 SEK by train, which I think is due to the "zone" structure of tpublic transport, compared with 110 SEK from Airpor tp Arstaberg.

Room Tip: Ask for a kettle and keep some long life milk in the room if you are a regular coffee/tea drinker. F...

“Average hotel, responsible price, in expensive Stockholm”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

Hotel is simple, rooms adquate with good free wi-fi. Buffet breakfast was ok.
5-10 minutes walk to light rail stop, would recommend taking light rail and metro to and from hotel as taxi drivers have trouble finding hotel.

“Cheap...and very nasty”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

As mentioned in other reviews of the Best Western Capital, it is a cheap option. However, just because you are paying a small amount, does that also mean that you should expect in return a small amount of service, cleanliness, and comfort?

If you stay in this hotel, it appears the answer is yes.

I stayed here for a couple of nights (because it was booked for me) while attending a conference at the Stockholm International Fairs. The hotel is a 20 minute walk, or a five minute extortionate cab ride, from this venue. I did try to get a bus, but the hotel had run out of tickets. I did not have time to travel into Stockholm so cannot comment on the ease of this.

The hotel offers breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is a mediocre buffet. Between customers your table is cleaned by the staff running their hand across its crumb-strewn top. The “restaurant” ran out of hot food at 8pm on a Friday evening. The staff – who did speak good English – generally came across as being disinterested and were distinctly cold.

This distain towards service extended into the rooms. The two single beds pushed together were supremely uncomfortable. The furniture was outdated and worn, despite the claim that rooms had been refurbished in 2010. The Best Western website says the hotel has Sky TV network in the rooms. In fact, the TV in my room had eight channels, three of which were showing the same station.

Worse than any of this was the lack of adequate cleaning. The tiny bathroom was filthy and even though the towels were changed daily, they still felt used and dirty. I am not sure if the bed linen was changed at all, but from my first night in the room the sheets smelled used and unclean. After one night I was longing to get home for a shower.

So, inexpensive it may be. But if you do stay at the Capital Hotel, even though you might be a bit better off financially, you will feel a whole lot poorer in terms of well-being. I am astounded that Best Western would put their name on the door of such an establishment: I guess this shows their dedication to customers. Please, spend just a little more and avoid this hotel.
