“cheap- you get what you pay for (but with a view)”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2011

In the discription of LogInn Hostels.com site, it was clearly written that breakfast was included to the stay, and it was the reason why we chose this hostel, but to our big dissapointment it was not and the staff wasn't as sorry as I would expect them to be in this kind of situation. The hostel blaimed the website we had used(hostels.com), that they haven't changed this information, even though the breakfast hasn't been included for over a year.

bad sides: the hostel it's situated 15 minutes walk from Slussen subway-station, it felt a bit far away when it was really cold and windy during our stay. Then, I had booked a doublebed-room for us, but for some reason we got a strainge combination of doublebed and bunkbed with 120cm wide double and over it, a regular 80 cm bed. the garderobe didnt have any hooks inside and all in all the room could have needed a little renovation. walking to old town goes well.

good sides: The bathrooms were nice and clean, but if you are really tall, you can't stand straight. the view from the room to the city hall is like in the pictures. sleeping in a ship is an experience.

summary: the hostel was cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for, but there are plenty of boathostels to choose from in Stockholm.

“good for the budget, great location, don't expect 5 stars”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2011

If you are looking to stay in Stockholm on the cheap and aren't a germophobe this is a good option. If you are solo traveling just go to a hostel, but two people traveling together get a better price here. The hotel is dated and somewhat grubby, and they definitely don't clean your room or change linens every day. The rooms are really tiny, and the bathrooms are too, with grungy tile grout. Not a place to be spending many waking hours in (but really, who spends that much time in their hotel other than for sleeping anyway). We were there in winter, and the room was quite warm, not a whole lot of ventilation. The bed was comfortable.
Staff are friendly enough, but not a whole lot of attention to detail. The breakfast (70kr) was pretty basic, but good. From the restaurant you get a great sunrise view across the water to Norrmalm and a bit of Gamla Stan.
The best thing about this place is its location. It's just a short walk from both Gamla Stan and the center of Sodermalm. About a 5 minute (100kr) taxi ride from Stockholm's centralstation, where the arlanda express from the airport arrives. It was also kind of cool to be on a boat. One night it was very windy, and you could feel the boat rock a tiny bit from side to side. That was interesting. It was a bit noisy at night, but we had the room right next to the entrance. Any other room would probably have been quieter.
One thing I saw in another review before we went there was a complaint about there being no internet. Maybe that was the case at the time but they do have free wifi now.

“Just dirty......”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2010

I stayed at the Loginn Hotel for 3 nights with my family and we booked 2 double-bed rooms, both were on the bottom floor. Btw, they ask you to pay up-front... Needless to say that the rooms are really really small even though that's sort of what you expect when staying on a boat. There's very little room for unpacking, andd that's when you're lucky enough to have some... but again, that's kinda part of the deal for this type of accomodation.

The main issue we had was with the cleanliness of both rooms. We found a dirty sock resting on a pile of dust in a corner of one room, hair in the shower, used tissues stuck under the beds. Not to mention the toilets which get clogged very easily. Our complaints didn't change a thing and it didn't get any better all along our stay. One final note: don't expect your sheets or your towels to be changed on a daily basis, they might tidy up your bed but that's it.
On the bright side though, it's pretty cheap considering it's within walking distance of the city centre, the desk staff has always been nice with us and the view is really cool.

I seriously recommend them to change their name from Hotel to Hostel, they're very far from hotel standards and they would barely meet the hostel ones. If you're a budget traveler, looking to stay close to the city, and not very fussy about cleanliness or room, that might be an option, when everything else is closed or fully booked... UPDATE: they told us they are planning on some refurbishment soon, hopefully they'll get things right this time.

“Nice one”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

Nice and cheap hotel, very vell located near the old town and metro station. Staff was polite and helpful. Rooms was somewhat small, and a little bit cold in my opinion, but very clean. I can remommend this one to people don't looking for luxury, it's very good choice for this price. And BTW. the hotel is on a boat!

“Smelly, cramped and uncomfortable”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2010

I was booked into this hotel for four nights while on a business trip to Stockholm. I checked out after my first night. I'd have avoided staying even one night if I hadn't arrived in Stockholm so late at night. This place was soooooooooooooooooo bad. The following is an edited snippet of the email I sent to my partner the morning after my shortened stay at the LoggInn.
========
I don't know where to start explaining how bad the LoggInn was, partly because I'm struggling to think clearly through lack of sleep. I'll give it a go, though:
* I couldn't lower the uncomfortably warm temperature in the room.
* The room was a tiny, weeny, little room. My head touched the sloping ceiling at its highest point.
* The venting or heating was noisy all night.
* The bedding smelt of dirty washing.
* No, actually the bedding, or the bed itself, smelt of urine. Yes, that's it, it smelt of dirty washing and urine.
* The towels smelt of dirty washing, but thankfully they didn't smell of urine.
* There was nowhere to unpack my bag - no shelves, drawers or wardrobe.
* There was no internet access or TV in the room (other rooms apparently do).
* The lounge area where internet access was available closed at 12am.

First thing this morning, about 6.30am I checked out. I'd read, put the light off, read, put the light off, read, put the light off, but the noise, smell and temperature kept me from sleep. I just wanted morning to come so that I could go somewhere that didn't smell so badly of urine. Maybe somewhere like a public toilet. Or under a bridge. Or a shop doorway next to a bar.

The chap at the hotel reception muttered something about the place being long overdue for a refurbishment and he pointed out that I had been given the smallest of the small rooms. REALLY?! He explained that the hotel used to get good reviews - a few years ago - but they don't now. A disgruntled hotel employee, I thought, until I asked him to jot down the name of the hotel owner for me. He asked why I wanted the owner's name. I replied that I wanted to get in touch with him. He said, "his name is Thomas. He's my father". Candid remarks from the owner's son.

I've yet to have ANY sleep. I suspect I'm going to start hallucinating some time this afternoon. My head already feels a bit light and odd.
========

Thankfully, I didn't start hallucinating and I shan't be returning to the nightmare of the LoggInn!
