This hotel was a real letdown. My room was a single without a toilet or shower. This obviously did not put me in a good mood. The room was a bit sad – clean but run down. The bed was narrow but comfortable.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic. The hotel has wifi but it worked only sporadically, I would have been very annoyed if I did not have connection via my phone.

Since I was only there for one night and was away most of the time it was not an awful experience but on the other hand it was nothing great either.

Obviously even a bad hotel is tolerable – it’s all a question of price. But the hotel was not in my opinion value enough for money.

There was a fair amount of noise from adjoining rooms and the corridor. Breakfast was mediocre.

Stayed here last weekend (1 September - 4 September 2011) and it was great. Hotel is so centrally located in Sodermalm - shops, bars, and the water are so close. Set out over one floor of an apartment building, its a fairly small hotel. However the room was comfortable in size and nicely decorated, staff friendly and helpful, and the breakfast had a wide selection and went on till late. I highly recommend.

An assessment of any accommodation in Stockholm has to take in account that this is an absurdly expensive city regarding low and medium priced hotels. Where on earth rooms without windows would be on offer at 100 Eur per night excluding breakfast.
Keeping this in mind the Oden is a nice hostel with a reasonable value for money service. Good things first: nice host, good breakfast, well located ( close to the tube and Sodermalm is good for a night out). Not so good: rooms facing to main street are noisy (smokers of groundfloor night bar are outside until 3 am), parts of hostel are still under renovation (construction starts at 8 am), backyard rooms have a smelly entrance and you have to cross open air backyard to go to breakfast, double bed is very small and the matress is extremly soft.
But the Oden definetly is on the rise as the new management started renovation and thus most of the complex is looking good and clean.
I would recommend this place to people travelling on a tight budget.
