We recently returned from Sweden where we had a 4 night stay at the Prince Philip. The hotel itself was very nice. Clean rooms, comfy beds, nice staff, and delicious free breakfast. The breakfast was very generous, not just fruit and coffee with stale rolls, which is so often the case with free breakfast. It consisted of swedish pancakes, waffles, eggs, many types of cereals, breads, cheeses, fruits, meat, fresh baked rolls and sweets-breakfast alone was worth the price of the stay!
However, it is not located inside of Stockholm, but rather a 20 min ride on the underground. Some of our family members who we were visiting in Stockholm, told us the area where the Prince Philip is located is not the nicest area. We found the area to be ok-just a bit out of the way.
It is very centrally located to the underground and a large shopping mall and of course, a large Ikea. The hotel is practically connected to the station and the mall, making travel very easy and shopping very easy. There is a nice food court at the mall and lots of nice stores. We bought a 4 day pass for the tube which made travel into downtown Stockholm very easy.
We spent the first week and a half in Orebro, which I highly recommend and the last 4 days in Stockholm which was about 2 days too many. Lovely city-but it is a big city-we could have seen the tourist sights in 2 days and been satisfied!
Overall-the Prince Philip is a great bargain for the money and would be ideal for a family.
