The title might be an exaggeration, as they were the only meatballs I tried in Stockholm, but we ended up here after many recommendations and many sources telling us exactly the same thing. We weren't disappointed. To start we had a spinach soup with poached egg, which was to die for! Then for a main, we did indeed have the meatballs, accompanied by the most amazing mash potato I think I've ever had, lingonberries and gravy. I don't think I've ever been so full in my life, but it was definitely worth it for such delicious food.
Pelikan is a great place. It's a 'pub-type' setting with a bar at one side and the restaurant/dining area at the other. The rooms are beautiful and big, but still manage to be cosy. Service was friendly and efficient. Prices were higher than some of the other places we'd visited, but for the amount of food we had (Approx £40-45 pp for the 2 courses, plus complimentary bread, plus red wine) and the service, it was worth it and a lovely treat on our last night in the city. Would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for some very tasty Swedish cuisine.
