The hotel has all the amenties advertised and a friendly staff. However , the location of the hotel on the town square is a significant problem on Fridays and Saturdays in nice weather. The town fathers feel compelled to allow bands on the sound stage adjacent to the hotel to operate at full amplification until 3:00 AM on Friday and Saturday nights. Yes, I said 3:00 AM with over-amplified drums vibrating through your bed.
Unfortunately, there is a town park immediatly behind the hotel and when the entertainment ends at 3:00 AM young adults congregate in the rear of the hotel for another drink and loud converation....outside your window.
If you are staying Sunday though Thursday......or if you will stay out on the square and join in the festivities till 3:00 AM....book this hotel, you will enjoy it.

I highly recommend this hotel. The staff is very service minded--something that Sweden needs more of! The hostess went out of her way to confirm our reservation at a hytsill at one of the glass works, and also called about opening hours of the glass works for us. The hotel itself is an interesting old building right on a main square in town and we slept like babies (and our baby slept too) for 3 nights in a row (Thurs, Fri and Sat of a holiday weekend) in a first floor room on the side of the hotel opposite the square. So no noise complaints here, and the bed was first rate.

We spent there a few days in summer 2001. A very nice and tasteful hotel in an interesting historic building with recently refurbished rooms. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was served in a light and friendly room with a good service. As an answer to our question after a bicycle rental service we got two bicycles free of charge from the hotel.
But there was at least in our room no wardrobe (in the meaning of a closed cupboard) but just an open garderobe with a few hooks. We could manage that, but in the first night from Saturday to Sunday there was a lot of noise. From about 10 p.m. to midnight the noise came from the square with a lot of restaurants in front of the hotel. About midnight a discotheque in a tent behind the hotel started to play extremly loud until about 5 o´clock in the morning. Therefore it was impossible to sleep during that night. The next morning we asked at the reception when the discotheque would play again. The answer was perhaps in the night between Wednesday and Thursday. Therefore we stayed only until Wednesday (and not the whole week, as originally planned) and shifted then to another hotel. In the nights from Sunday to Wednesday we had no more noise problems and evrything was fine.
So I would come again, but first I will check / ask whether there are noisy events around that hotel.

Its a very nice building, but very noisy. In the morning i was more tired than when i went to bed, all the noisy around the hotel in combination with bad beeds....I think you can see the result of the combination. The hotel has a very bad management and staff. They say they are very service minded, but its nothing to rely on!! Next time i wisit kalmar i will check in to another hotel.
