“Nice hotel, friendly service, clean and comfortable rooms.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 May 2011

A well appointed hotel with a good free gym and access to an excellent swimming pool facility (which is a little expensive and has quite poor opening hours, but is great!).
The staff are friendly and informative, the service in the bar and restaurant is very good. Meals and drinks are a little expensive (it is Sweden after all!) but Scandic operate a good deal where you accumulate discount vouchers the more you stay at their hotels. You can find out more about this on their website. The location is a little far from the centre of Jonkoping if you have no transport, the hotel does however allow you free use of their bicycle (speak to the helpful staff at reception) but is handy for the Elmia centre and ice rink.

“Old & Worn”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2011

people found this review helpful

This is the most outdated & worn Scandic hotel I have ever visited. Since I travel a bit in my line of work, I have quite a few to compare with. The hotel is in desperate need of a renovation, & the staff all seem to have lost their 'spark' too. Two advantages though; free parking, & a quiet neighborhood. The only Scandic hotel worse than this one, might be the 'Malmen' in Stockholm. They play kids/youth music through out the hotel, to the extent that you can not get any sleep! Elmia is at least calm & quiet...

“Ok stay but terrible restaurantexperience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2010

The rooms are ok and clean, somewhat small for three people but ok standard (no minibar though) and bathroom. The beds are ok, but the extra sofabed gives even the most tolerant guest a hard time. The breakfast is to die for, fantastic variety of food and drinks, even fresh orangejuice, fresh fruit, several kinds of bread, yoghurt, cereals and sprinkles etc the list goes on and on. The are also making sure that the food is ecological and that there are options for the allergic guest. The service at the reception was ok, however the receptionist could not recommend anything of the sightseeing in the area and had no information what so ever. We got a leaflet from 2009 which was the only information they had! So far so good. Since the hotel is so far from the city center (jkpg and huskvarna) it is quite crucial that the restaurant is of good standard: here the food is expensive and not worth it, the food took more that 45 min to arrive and then the staff had forgotten the starters. That would have been acceptable if the staff had been more friendly but they only added on to the terrible experience by shrugging their shoulder as if "these things happens and it is normal". A few days later we decided to give the kitchen another chance, but got an even colder welcoming, the staff didn't even bother to help us with table nor recommendations for smaller dishes but left before we could get seated (which we had to wait for). If there was another place close by, we would have left. Unfortunately this casts a shadow over the entire experience so even though the breakfast is fantastic, we would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Basic hotel with very friendly staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2008

This hotel has a great location if you just are passing Jönköping or has an activity at the ELMIA exhibition center. I am afraid that this hotel has the same problems as many of the other Scandic Hotels in Sweden. They are getting dated and urgently need to update their rooms. The rooms are often very small with old furniture and a dated shower. In order to pursue their "environmental friendly image" they have taken away real showergel, shampoo and a soap. They have larger bottles on the wall, very unpractical and the combined shower gel/schampoo is not suitable for us with a bit longer hair :-) Small towels and everything is white..Positive things: they usually have a great restaurant and the breakfast is super and included in the price. The staff is are also very welcoming and they have a special program for small children! So, do not expect a high class hotel - but a basic place for a good night sleep and bring your own schampoo!

  • Liked — Nice staff, nice restaurant.
  • Disliked — Very dated impression and a bad shower.

We went by car towards Smaland and had stop for the night.

The staff was very helpful and gave us much information about thing to see in Jonkoping.

Small room but a nice bed.

The breakfast was above average.

Good hotel if you just staying for one night.
