“A very nice hotel with a poor breakfast and service in the morning”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2011

The hotel is very nice, not far from the city center, the railway station and the beautiful lake Vättern. For the traveler, my opinion is that this hotel really could be a good choice for a stop over in this nice town. But before you book, please continue to read!

The bed is soft which I like and also is normal in most of the modern hotels in Sweden. It’s also clean and, yes, the rooms offer everything you’ll need for a restful and relaxing stay.

And then the breakfast… Yes, it was in the theory rich but it was poor as a lot of the plates and bowls were empty! The herring (which is almost “a must” in Swedish hotels) had finished, the liver pate had finished, most of the cheese had finished and… Oh yes! The meatballs hadn’t finished! I could see that two were left! Hurrah!

Unfortunately, it was not so much to choose from in the morning! And to tell the staff that so many things and dishes had finished was not possible. I couldn’t see anyone until I already had finished the breakfast.

Then back to the room. The hotel offers free high speed wire-less Internet. But it was only working two hours. Then I called the reception to get a new log in code… No, they didn’t answer. So I checked out from this hotel after a poor breakfast and without any Internet connection in the morning.

Conclusion: This hotel should be, by my opinion, a “strong four” hotel but due to the poor breakfast and a poor service in the morning, it will be a “poor three”.

“Central Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2011

This was a central Hotel close to shops, walking distance of supermarket & 500m to Match Museum - which was excellent, well worth a visit. We stayed in a 'Superior Room' which had 4 lounge chairs & a table , so plenty of sitting room and with a wonderful view of the lake. The air-conditioning worked well & the free WiFi was high speed & reliable. The LCD TV had one English speaking channel - BBC World. There were no toiletries in the bathroom with very few tissues left in the box & used toilet paper on the roll - not good for a four star Hotel. As we were tired we decided to have dinner in the Hotel Restaurant & were very disappointed with the service, quality & quantity of the food considering the price that they charged. We would never eat in this restaurant again. The breakfast room was under staffed & consequently it effected the quality of the breakfast experience. The tables were left dirty and uncleared after being used & the hot food did not even look edible. There were no English language newspapers. Access to the lobby from the underground garage was made difficult because there were three steps to negotiate with heavy cases - you would expect a four star hotel to have ramp access from the garage. Overall we would not stop at this Hotel again.

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

Friendly hotel with a great location that kindly provided us with a special room for us since we brought the dog, waterbowl and blanket included. Part of the hotel is being renovated and the area is under construction but this is not disturbing.

“Avoid in the near future - NOISY works taking place just outside”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2008

This hotel is centrally located very near the many shopping area with many shops and cafes nearby.

The rooms are quite adequate. I was given a double room with two small beds on the 4th floor. The rooms are spacious well appointed with all the itmes expected for a hotel costing SEK1325 per night. Satellite TV, complimentary wireless internet access, complimentary ironing board and iron, minibar, etc.

The main problem with this hotel is that there were major works taking place just outside and they are incredibly noisy, we were woken up in the early hours of the morning by some loud machinery banging and after a late night in, we did not appreciate it.

The breakfast selection is adequate, cereals, bread, cold meats, yogurts cheese, eggs, scrambled and boiled, bacon, sausages, etc. I was incredibly dissappointed by the service of their staff at the breakfast room. There was a machine that squeezed oranges but there were no oranges left, so I asked them if they could bring more, they said ok, but instead, they took the machine away!! I asked them if they were going to bring the machine and the oranges back and they said no because the breakfast was finishing at 9:30!! When I asked it was 9:10! I find this totally disgraceful service. Definitely not worthy the 1325 SEK I paid for the pleasure.

“Very smart and central”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2008

Needed a hotel in JKG at short notice and booked this one followng a recommendation from a business colleague. Not disappointed. Great location, friendly front desk, very comfy rooms with free wi-fi and much needed power shower with nice toiletries. Oh not forgeting the superb breakfast. Had to go out for a smoke but the fresh air wasn´t too hard to deal with! Very good value and would recommend to all.
