I stayed here for three nights in August 2007; the location of the hotel is rather central and is a 5-10 minute walk from the main station.
From the past reviews I have read on here states the hotel was in need of repair, it would seem during 2007 there is a lot of renovations taking place, all the rooms have been modernised and they are very Swedish looking, good beds and lots of space. The bathrooms are all new and modern with great power showers. The only think lacking is air conditioning and there is no mini fridge in the room which lets it down being the height of the summer.
The majority of the rest of the hotel is old fashioned, a brick walled corridor and the carpet looks like it needed changing a couple of years ago, same with the stairwell, it kind of still has the feel of what it would have been like in the 1970’s when it was apartments for people in the Navy. The bar, breakfast area and reception have all been renovated and it looks nice. They say the full renovations will be complete this year.
Wireless internet in rooms is reasonably priced at 120 SEK a day but there is no free internet access in the lobby, and the price charged is very expensive to use the computer there, my advice for people needing internet access is go to the central station where 30 SEK will get you 90 minutes.
Overall it’s a good hotel for the price and location and it serves a good breakfast. The staff are all very friendly so you cannot go wrong with staying here. I would certainly stay here again with no hesitations.
