We booked the Teaterhotellet online for our 4 night stay in September 2011. It was a great experience from the moment we arrived. The desk staff were friendly, helpful, knowledgeable about the city and efficient. Our rooms were clean and comfortable and the en suite bathroom was spotless. The buffet breakfast was well presented, fresh and had lots of variety. The location was great for walking through the old town with its museums, galleries, parks, castle and pedestrian precinct with some amazing shops and buildings. The computer for guests in the lobby was a great bonus. We would heartily recommend Teaterhotellet, for any visit Malmö

We stayed here for two nights. Our room was comfortable, quiet and clean. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Buffet breakfast was nicely prepared and of a nice variety of choices. An easy walk into the center of town and also the Malmöhus Castle and Museums. Lovely parks nearby for a peaceful respite. Situated right by the Theatre.

The hotel was in a good location just a couple of minutes walk from the main shopping street and the room was fine, comfortable and clean. It was good that you could open a window in the room as it was a little bit stuffy and a tiny bit musty smelling. The internet didn't work which was only a small problem but the breakfast was great. Just a word of warning about the taxi drivers from the central station - my driver told me there was a flat rate of 200 kroner from the station which I naively believed, not thinking I'd get scammed in a country like Sweden. I also had done no research on exactly where my hotel was so when he pulled up ten minutes later the charge did seem extreme. I asked the hotel what the fare should be and ws told between 60 and 80 kroner. They didn't seem fazed when I told them what had happened and indeed my cab driver the next day confirmed that this happens all the time. So just be warned - if they tell you there's a flat rate there isn't!

Teaterhotellet was a good value for our money. The hotel was a 15-20 minute picturesque walk from the Malmo Central train station. The hotel was also clean and in a very safe area. The rooms are small, but just fine for an affordable and cozy European hotel. Just around the corner and down the way is the pedestrian street with the all of the shops, ATMs, and eating establishments that you could want. The breakfast was incredible, with cheese, bread, jellys and jams, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, Swedish sausage, four types of cold cuts, smoked salmon, herring in a sweet sauce, fruit, pickles, four or five types of cereals, three flavors of yogurt, dried fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice, apple juice, milk and coffee. I highly recommend this hotel and Malmo as a whole. If you are looking for the Hilton go to the Hilton, but if you want an authentic Swedish hotel, this is the place. We hope to return one day.;
