This is a very nice hotel and great food. Would recommend this to everyone.

We stayed here for 7 nights. Our room was poor but we have to commend the hotel because they had only one room left and they warned us that there was no view at all from it (and offered it at a cheaper rate). It was the quality of the restaurant - food and wine list - that proved to be the highlight for us. Simply delicious. we ate there every evening. Not cheap but brilliant quality on each occasion.

We stayed here for 3 nights. It is very well located to explore the island.

We booked a "corner double" room, thinking that it would have a nice view towards Kalmar sound but found that the view was very limited and distant. The corner room (245) was the same size as a standard double, its only advantage being a second window for the extra SEK180 a night. We noticed from the floor plan on the back of the door that the "larger double" rooms (at the same price as the corner room) were quite a bit bigger, so we changed to one of those (room 235). It was quite spacious, well furnished and decorated, with a good bathroom.

If your mobility is limited, ask for a room on the 3rd floor (room 301 etc), which is the same level as Reception and the Restaurant.

The Restaurant was very good indeed. There was a good choice of dishes for dinner, much of it locally sourced. The food was delicious and well presented and service was excellent. Even if staying at the hotel, you need to book a table for dinner - the first night we had a table inside the restaurant with no view, so asked for (and were given) a very nice table in the conservatory for the next two evenings.

Breakfast was equally good.

Staff on reception were very pleasant and efficient and spoke excellent English. There is a computer near reception with free (and fast) internet access.

We would thoroughly recommend here as being a good value, comfortable place to stay with a great restaurant and ideally placed to explore the island. It even has free parking, which in our experience was rare in Sweden.

I have wanted to stay at Halltorp for several years because ot its good reputation regarding their food. This time, however, we visited a concert and came late so the restaurant was closed so we just slept there. I was not happy with the hotelroom and service. The room was large but I have never stayed at a 4 start hotel with an old small "kitchen-tv" in the room. Some of the furniture seemed old and the bed was very hard. The bathroom was tiled but the shower was not fresh. When we arrived late everything was closed and dark, we met a person from the staff and asked if they possible sold some sandwiches in the reception - he just answered "No" and was gone. I usually like Countryside Hotels but this one I will pass.
