I have wanted to stay at Halltorp for several years because ot its good reputation regarding their food. This time, however, we visited a concert and came late so the restaurant was closed so we just slept there. I was not happy with the hotelroom and service. The room was large but I have never stayed at a 4 start hotel with an old small "kitchen-tv" in the room. Some of the furniture seemed old and the bed was very hard. The bathroom was tiled but the shower was not fresh. When we arrived late everything was closed and dark, we met a person from the staff and asked if they possible sold some sandwiches in the reception - he just answered "No" and was gone. I usually like Countryside Hotels but this one I will pass.

It is a very nice historic building, but the newly added buildings are a bit out of character with the main building. We stayed here for 5 nights in a suite. That was a little bit odd, because we slept on the addic and the bathroom was downstairs. The bed was to hard for me, but all the beds in Sweden seem to be hard. The bathroom was very small, but all the bathrooms in Sweden seem to be small. Yes, it was basically or simple furnished, but I think that is the Swedish style and that differs from the European continent, UK and even USA. At first we thought the noice of the main road on the island would keep us awake, but after 8.00 pm it was quiet. The location is perfect to explore the island. You can use bikes from the hotel for free (on the little roads it is very quiet and nice). There was a funny smell on the first floor of the main old building where the suites are, we couldn't place it and the reception wasn't aware of it??? The restaurant was really perfect and the staff very friendly. Golfcourse Ekerum at 1 km, very nice course. If you go to Öland, go to this gastgiveri.

Stayed as part of a group tour, slightly out of season. Clean, tidy and comfortable with a good restaurant. Rooms a bit basically furnished, but very functional and everything worked as it is supposed to.

Besides the beautifully simple, elegant room, Halltorps is located in a scenic spot on a magical Island., just a short walk from the water.
The accomodations, service, staff and food were excellent and the whole experience a delight.
