(Negatives on top, pluses coming below - this is a nice hotel but I feel that some negatives are worth pointing out.)
NEGATIVES:
-You are expected to pay at arrival, like at some budget hotel... Normally as a guest I prefer to at least see the room before I pay. That is almost always normal, or at least a possibility, but at this hotel this is not possible.
-The single room that I stayed in had a very claustrophobic feel to it. It was right under a sloping ceiling on the 3rd floor, meaning that in most of the room an adult person could not stand upright. I did not like it. If you have any claustrophobic tendencies or you are tall, avoid this type of room.
-Housekeeping did the room while I had breakfast, which felt like a bit of an intrusion. I have never before experienced a situation whereby housekeeping enters before the breakfast session is finished.
-The room that I had was facing other hotel rooms on the opposite side of a courtyard. No curtain was provided to protect privacy in the evening. Those opposite could view straight into the room unless the blackout curtain was drawn.
PLUSES:
-Great location
-Hotel housed in a very elegant building, newly renovated. Classic style that will appeal to most.
-Iron and ironing board at the room.
-Wifi is fast and free.
-Very nice breakfast buffet with anything a European might ask for, regardless what part of the continent you are from.
-Lactose free milk products are provided for breakfast if you ask - this is standard at good hotels in Scandinavia.
-Blackout curtains, a must in Northern Scandinavia.
-Bathtub
