Nice hotel, near highway, good parking place. Rooms were ok, but too hot because the weather was warm. Staff was friendly and breakfast ok. In the evening we have to wait quite long time before we could order. Food was ok. Nothing special but nice place to sleep three nights.

The "Hotel" is by the motorway outside the city of Gävle. Frendly staff and ok restaurant.
But the place looks and feels like nothing gas been done in the past 20 years. Worn down with small rooms.

Ok if you need to sleep before driving on. But not the place you want to spend your holidays.

I just needed to stay a night and wasn't to fuzzy about the hotel. Scandic Gavle West was the nearest hotel so I opted for it. The hotel itself is located near the E4 motorway and I guess it mostly attracts business people (like me) that need a layover.

The hotel isn't bad, the rooms are basic but clean. Free wifi covers the hotel. The TV offers most Swedish channels and some pay-tv. I have always liked Scandic because they do offer good and affordable food in their restaurants, Ok, it's not a five star restaurant but it's comparable to many pub/bar restauarants. Menu includes basics like "pyttipanna" (hashed potatoes, onions, meat, sausages), and also beef, veal and burgers. Restaurant open Mon-Sat to 10pm, closed Sunday.

Breakfast is included in room price and is the usual Swedish hotel buffé. It includes: scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, juice, eggs and much more. So in short, very good!

This hotel is good for a layover, it isn't a hotel for a honeymoon. I think the primary purpose of this hotel is to accomodate business people that are visiting industries in the area.

We stayed a week at the Scandic for the Scandinavian country music festival we played at.
Of all the hotels I have stayed at in Europe this one takes the cake. Everything was great, the staff (who all spoke perfect English) were among the friendliest I have seen.
They went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable so far from home.
The bathrooms featured heated floors (even though it was summer) and cool faucets for the bathtub that have two knobs one for temp. and one for on and off, once you set the temperature it stays the same each time you use it. there were dispensers on the wall for soap and shampoo. It also featured a heated towel rack.
The living room (I had a mini suite) has a nice sofa and 2 wing backed chairs. There was a desk and television as well.
The bedroom had 2 twin beds, a desk and a television. The beds were very very clean and comfortable.
The rooms in Europe are a little different than the U.S. but this one was nice.
The hotel chain is very environmentally conscious they had recycle bins in the room and the key cards for the room were made out of Birch (wood) as were the pens and disposable silverware.
There was no air conditioning but even in July we didn't need it. there were two big windows that opened to view a beautiful Forrest.
The pool, gym and sauna were nice new and clean.
The restaurant and bar were top notch. If you can believe this the free breakfast buffet included over 100 items! thats right over one hundred!
The hotel had maps of the area as well as bicycles you could borrow to sightsee.
My personal favorite things were the coffee and water. The coffee is fresh 24 hours a day and is the best I have tasted. The water from the tap was ice cold and tasted better than any bottled water I have ever had. Even the Cokes had real sugar (original recipe) and came in thick glass bottles.

A week is a long time in the same hotel but I cannot think of anything that could have been better and staying 200+ nights in hotels per year I am pretty picky.
