Stayed three nights at this hotel in March 2005 - when it was -25 degrees C and snowing outside! Typically efficient Scandinavian service - all the check in had already been done electronically. Room was clean and nordic styled. Usual room features, but nothing flash. On the first floor of the hotel is a cinema (really a large room with a huge LCD screen) showing movies for free, on the second floor is a stand alone PC with free highspeed broadband access and on the third floor is a 'relax' centre with a sauna, sunbed, spa bath and steam room. Wireless internet access is available on the 1st and 2nd floors as long as you sit near in the chairs next to the stairs - no signal elsewhere. Reception can hire out wireless cards for free if needed. The restaurant/bar is on the ground floor and serves starters for about £10 and mains from £20 - about average prices for good restaurants in Umea and the food is good. You get 10% discount off all food and drink if you're a resident. A typical Scandinavian buffet breakfast is served in the same room from 6.30-9.30am. Unfortunately, there is no provision for those (like myself) who have to catch the early flight to Stockholm - at other hotels I have stayed at in Umea they provide a breakfast bag, but not here! Still, you get fed on the plane!! Three other restaurants I would highly recommend very near the hotel is Victor (turn right and its about 2 mins walk), the theatre cafe (directly opposite the hotel - look out for the table set around a fire, quite something!) and Rex - in the town centre. The hotel is very central and taxis park outside which is very convenient.
All in all I enjoyed my stay here and would recommend this hotel. Its not deluxe or flashy but very comfortable and friendly.
