“Good location, good value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

The hotel is centrally located in the middle of the town with easy walking to shops and places to eat. There are plenty of places to get something to each including a restaurant in the same building as the hotel (although not part of the hotel). Car rental is about 100 meters from the hotel and the train station about 15 minutes walk.

The room was bigger than average and in good condition. The views from the front of the hotel look towards the water and the train station.

Breakfast was very good, with a good selection of hot and cold food, all of a good quality. The gym facilities are also all good.

The staff were efficient and helpful, giving us advise on where we might go for a shot walk after we had been sitting in the car for a long time.

Internet and parking are free.

Kiruna has the most beautiful building int Sweden as voted by the people of Sweden - take a look for yourself!!

“"Waiting to be torn down"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2010

Stuff had a hard time to find the booking and even harder to understand the meaning of "to be invoiced" as it clearly stated on the confirmation. The room itself had a recent facelift but the bathroom was still the original 50´s for the whole building to be torn down as the mines nearby expand. Stayed for two night and the breakfastbuffet didint offer bacon on any of the mornings. Though there was a avriety of other dishes and fruits.

“resonable stop over hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2010

The hotel is ok but has nothing to recommend it apart from a stop over on the long drive from norway through sweden to haparanda and kemi. The town over looks a huge iron ore mine, which might be of interest to mining types but otherwise the town is totally forgettable. We arrived on saturday afternoon and found most shops close around 2pm (some close at 1pm !!).
The room was ok although we heard some noise from the car park in the square below as the local teenagers cruised around like is common in most swedish and finnish small towns at the weekend.
The bathroom had quite fierce ventilation (perhaps because we were on the top floor) and the drone from the air vent sucking out air reminded me of a WW2 bomber movie.
Buffet dinner was quite delicious and resonably priced, the desserts were also nice although we were charged for a cup of tea at the end and a pitcher of tap water - both should have been included in the buffet price in my opinion (although a good way to bump up the price since most people will want a drink with their meal).

“Central location and great way to start & end your trip to northern Scandinavia”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2010

We stayed at Scandic Ferrum Kiruna for 2 different nights and both experiences are consistently good. Central location right next to Tourist office and bus to local mining tour. Car rental pick up and delivery at the hotel. Supermarket and banks are right there, and so as a few other small restaurants and shops, etc. Also close to bus and train station. We did the Kungsleden hiking trail and tour around northern part of Sweden and Norway, and we use Kiruna as our base at the beginning and the end of the northern tour. Very comfortable stay and enjoyed their breakfast buffet. Also provided internet use free at ground floor. In our last night we went up to the top floor to drink our aquavit and enjoyed the mining site! All in all, happy with our stay.
