Scandic Ostersund Syd is an entirely one-level hotel, a bit like a giant bungalow with long corridors but don't let that put you off. The interior is welcoming and the staff friendly. As in other parts of Sweden, the staff here speak excellent English. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean, just what you need after a long drive or train journey. The hotel location is just to the south of the city but within walking distance of it. There is a useful petrol station next door with a shop open pretty much all hours (very useful in the north of Sweden where stuff closes early). The hotel itself also has a small shop, complimentary newspapers (Swedish only) and a free-to-use internet terminal with a printer in the lobby. Wireless is available throughout. The breakfast provided was also very reasonable with a good choice of items. The only problem you may experience is parking during the high season (generally July).
