“HAPPY NEW YEAR AT THE ACAPULCO”

We stayed at the Acapulco in the week starting 31st.December 2011.
Excellent hotel - beautifully situated, great food,5star room, friendly helpful staff - who could ask for more?
All of the hotel facilities were made available to us free of charge - sauna, steam room, etc.
From the Reception staff to our room cleaner nothing was too much trouble and they all ensured that our stay was pleasurable.
We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and we would certainly return.
With regard to some criticisms regarding drink prices, we found them to be about U.K.bar prices and not expensive for a hotel of this class.
One small gripe, though. In a country where oranges are hanging off the trees why were we offered a truly awful "fruit" juice at breakfast?

Room Tip: Ask for a room in Pine Court.

“4star at 2star price!”

We stayed here over the Xmas week at a v good deal at half board!
First the good points -
Lovely room with view of sea. Always cleaned although could be updated as our bath had a crack. Hairdryer broke but was fixed quickly.
Lovely beach lots of room and as it was cold and we weren't fighting for space although new years eve turned into nightmare with hundreds turning up for celebrations although not unexpected.
Food - breakfast was good and best meal with lots of variety for all. Charging for fresh orange I thought was a bit much. Too few working coffee machines and tiny cups so you had to keep queueing to top up.
I had a Turkish bath at a discount -highly recommended lovely staff and fab treatment.
Now the BAD -
Drinks prices ok BUT it is wrong to charge for water when you can't drink it from the tap. Charging 5TL for a bottle is outrageous when it costs 4 times less outside.
Staff were generally ok but at dinner very hit and miss. Had to wait ages for drinks order to be taken.
Food was very repetitive and by day 4 was getting bored with very little change in menu for dinner. Quality was good for what was there.
We were "treated" to 3 fancy dinners. Two for Xmas/boxing day and n year eve. Great ideas but due to high numbers difficult to manage.
New years eve was a fiasco it was our last nite and many had forged friendships but a seating plan was enforced and we ended up with strangers! We were shoved in the corner and although we were warned did not expect the low level of service..food was so slow and we often got a few plates but others on the table had to wait ages! Food was exactly the same meal we had on Xmas day. If I had to pay for that I would hv been v disappointed.

Overall a good holiday lovely island lots to do and see. Would return but not to this hotel or at this busy time of year!

“pre-christmas stay at acapulco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

An excellent place for a pre-christmas break. Beautiful hotel, fantastic location, spotless rooms, brilliant buffet choice of foods for breakfast and evening meal. Just as others have suggested, late arrival after 10pm was directed to restaurant for late buffet dinner. Left at 4.30am and again buffet breakfast available for everyone. Staff friendly and helpful, and willing to share a joke. Only complaint will be same as everyone else, cost of bar prices. 5tl for bottle of water, 8tl for a beer - otherwise definitely recommend hotel to couples for a winter break. There are less activities for young families in winter, but summer activities include a fun fair, aqua park, fabulous beach, etc.

Room Tip: The new hotel block called "Pine Court" was available to Turkish/convention visitors only...

“Great for relaxing and sunbathing.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2011

We stayed here last week in October. It was much better than we expected after reading some reviews. Beautiful pool, often I was the only one in! Plenty of comfortable high quality sunloungers around the pool or on the grassed area between the pool and the beach. The beach was lovely too with plenty of loungers. We found the restaurant fine, always plenty of food, lovely salads and international food choices. We stayed in a bungalow, it was a bit dark but it was very quiet and had clean linen and a comfy bed. The only downside for us was lack of things to do in the evening, no entertainment other than the same couple of singers every night and the room/bar was very dark and uninviting. Last bus into Kyrenia was 7pm and all the shops were closed, nothing to do there other than drink or eat in a restaurant. Would not like to stay longer than a week.

Room Tip: Bungalows were a bit dark but quiet. New build hotel rooms behind shop seemed more luxurious.
