Booked 2 nights at CPH for a recent holiday and while there were many pros, the cons included paper-thin walls. Combined with loud neighbors, it resulted in no sleep and my checking out early to spend my second night at another hotel.
The pros include really friendly staff, amazing location (a few minutes from the main shopping street, Stroget), the cheapest bar in town (generous happy hour from 30 DKK), and a cozy lounge/reception area. When I complained about the noise, too, the woman at the reception, Kat, was very understanding and did her best to help me, as did her manager, Martin. The three of us worked out an equitable arrangement for my checking out early.
However, there were a few cons to the place. For one, the room smelled like sweat and what really creeped me out was that my pillow did too. Also, the shower in our bathroom was not enclosed, but just a shower room. We couldn't get any hot water for the shower.
By far the worst aspect of the hostel is its paper-thin walls. We unfortunately stayed next-door to a group of really loud partiers who woke us up at 4am by shouting, banging on the walls, knocking over bottles, and off-key singing (not that it would have been appreciated if it were on-key, however). This continued until 5:30am. Needless to say, it was impossible to sleep because they were loud even with my earplugs in. Incidentally, even if there were no partiers, you can easily hear people talking in the hallways and doors slamming shut, etc.
The next morning, still seething with rage (exacerbated by lack of sleep), I checked out and booked alternative accommodation (the Hotel Ansgar, which was absolutely lovely). True, while this hostel has many positives, if you are a light sleeper and/or not fond of partying neighbors, I would definitely NOT recommend CPH.
