“Ultra modern and stylish ...and...technically...on an island”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

Unique hotel located on a tiny man-made island (a small moat is about the largest gap). The hotel is located right next to the Fisketorvet Mall which is great and has a mix of everything. That is about the best thing in terms of location. It's a bit of a walk to other CPH tourist attractions.

Tip, if you are walking to Tivoli or the center of town, exit the hotel out the back and walk along the canal. You'll pass through a mix of offices, hotels, galleries and industrial all built in typical modern skandinavian style. Once you reach the Marriott, head streetside nd you'll hit Bernstorffsgade main street north to the train station and CBD.

Hotel rooms all offer great views no matter where you're located, but higher rooms are the best. Furnished in typical modern contemporary Danish style, each room is well equipped, comfortable, and very white minimalist. As is typical in some Danish style, it may appear cold/clinical at first, but evening brings well thought out warm lighting throughout the room.

Hotel restaurant has a fantastic breakfast (the Danish love breakfast!). Sometimes a bit of a lineup in the morning, and it's a little tricky to find the restaurant the first time, but well worth it.

Taxis are easy to find, and if there are ever none waiting, just walk next door to the shopping mall main pickup/drop off roundabout.

Good for business, not as recommended for families (try the Marriott or Radisson), and not great for tourism (choose the Radisson or someone closer to Nyhavn. Enjoy the island.

Room Tip: Stay above floor 2 to avoid the interior restaurant foot traffic.

“Stylish and Fun”

The Copenhagen Island Hotel has a great location right on Copenhagen Harbour. The rooms are bright and enjoy lovely floor to ceiling widows. Rooms are small, but the amazing height makes them feel spacious. They are very well designed and the little touches make you feel special. The beds are very comfy and the service is superb. Spent one night here but would definitely return.
The location is a 10 minute walk from the railway station and water taxis also service the hotel making it relatively easy to get to all the places you want to see in Copenhagen.

Room Tip: Get a cool room facing the water. Awesome.

“Lovely hotel but watch for the envrionmental fee on your bill”

I stayed here on business, was a pleasant hotel and my room was nice and quiet, tea and coffee making in the room which makes a change as rarely seen in european hotels. Was close to the city attractions and a nice but expensive restaurant within the hotel.

“Nice modern hotel”

A very modern hotel a bit far away from city center. Very nice staff, good breakfast and i big mall just around the corner. It was very nice for our business-trip with taxi included, but I think I will choose another hotel if I travel by myself. It was i bit too far away from city center. But the hotel itself was very nice.

“Great 4 star hotel with 5 star staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

I am just back from 4 days in Copenhagen with my boyfriend. We were so looking forward to it and a huge part of any trip away is the accommodation you choose. We were not let down at all by choosing The Island Hotel, Copenhagen.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. We checked in quite late so the restaurant had stopped serving and room service had stopped as well. However, the receptionist, Elvis was more than helpful and helped us organise a pizza to be delivered. We didn't even have to go to reception to collect it - it was delivered right up to the room. I wasn't feeling a 100% so my boyfriend went down to the bar to get a drink and bring it back to the room. The barman was helpful in recommending a few places to go and things to do. When he heard I wasn't well he gave us a complimentary drink and wishing me well for the rest of the stay. I mean that is top notch service! Because of that, the following night we ate in the restaurant and had a couple of gorgeous mojitos. We had steak which was very tasty and cooked to perfection. Rebecca was our waitress and again she could not have been more helpful. She recommended an area to go out in and a few bars. We followed her recommendations and had an excellent night. But let me mention that all the staff were like this - professional, friendly, helpful and pleasant. Other receptionists helped us out with things as well but unfortunately I didn't get all their names.

In regards the hotel and it's location - I was very happy with it. Our room was overlooking the canal. I booked a standard double and I wonder was I upgraded? I never asked. It was spacious, had everything we needed and most importantly it was clean. The bathroom was a very good size. There is a mini bar which we availed of! We didn't have to ask for anything throughout our stay. It's about a ten minute walk into Tivoli and I loved that every morning. We did lots of walking and it was a great way to see the city and get your bearings. The free high speed wi-fi in the room was an added bonus.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and I will definitely return to Copenhagen to explore it even more. It was particularly beautiful at Christmas with the Christmas markets etc. A huge part of our trip being so enjoyable was the service we received in The Island Hotel. I would recommend it to anyone. Thank you all.
