“Great hotel - love the Eco focus!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

I loved this hotel! A friend of mine recommended the Guldsmeden chain after having stayed at Guldsmeden Axel.

The service was great, the rooms were nice and the location was good. I loved the little eco toiletries. I am a big fan of ecological food/products focus and this was the reason I chose this hotel. I will, however, say that some work could be done with the breakfast buffet. Though, the produce was good, the selection and layout wasn´t the best.

The hotel was clean, secure and offered a good night´s sleep.

“Supermysigt hotell!”

I stayed at this hotel for two nights in December 2011 while in town for a meeting. After looking it up, I was pleased to find that it is only about 1km from the central station, an easy walk. Upon arrival, you must ring a doorbell to be let in - this was a slight minus as I have big-city instincts and felt a bit uncomfortable waiting in a dark alley to enter the hotel. But, of course, the area is completely safe and it was really no trouble.

Once inside I was very pleasantly surprised by the standard and decor. My room, a single, included a full-size four-poster bed, desk and chair, tv, and simple bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. The rooms are decorated in the same style as the rest of the hotel-a mix of antique-y and "funky." The property is clearly many years old, but has been well-maintained and is clean and cozy, and well-heated. In the bathroom is a selection of the hotel's own organic bath products.

The breakfast was good, but not spectacular, and a bit pricey-I would recommend visiting one of the many nearby cafes and restaurants instead if you're not in a hurry. But the food is tasty, healthy and plentiful.

A final plus - one staff member has an adorable French bulldog named Gimli who came to say hello at the front desk!

“Never again”

We booked a family room and we got a normal room just filled with two extra beds. no space at all!! then the reception is on the first floor and you need to check-in there to get your key and walk to the oter building to get to your room. then the rooms asi said before was small and the bathroom was tiny and really old. furthermore i read on tripadvisor that the breakfast was really good. hmm well it was a small buffet and everyone was in a rush. the food was alright but not worth the 120 dkk. so we do not recommend this hotel.

“Much better choices around the corner”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

I am glad I only had to stay one night before changing to another hotel. Reading about the hotel before comming said that it was "very romantic". Well I guess it then equals the meaning of old, a bit smelly and not very clean? I did not find it charming at all and glad I did not have to spend very much time inside my room. If you are allergic to dust (luckely I am not) you should stay away for sure. And for the price on the room you have better choices in the near neighbourhood where you have cleaner rooms and better breakfast for sure!

“friendly and centrally located hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011

stayed one night. Great room, in the secondary building behind the main one. Quiet, well set up. Only minor niggle is the fact that this secondary building is in the courtyard which forces you to take a short dash outside, may be cold or wet if the weather works against you. The door to the building is relatively small and somewhat finicky to open. The reception is a little cramped, but overall a very nice experience. Excellent breakfast buffet, with some emphasis on ecological products. Would definitely recommend if you don't like the standard colourless bland business hotels.
Oh - wifi internet was said to be unreliable but that is not what i found. Also there was no charge, contradictory of what the hotel's own documentation mentioned. Good service!
