“Good position but small things let it down-especially no tea and coffee”

This was mine and my wifes 3rd stay in Copenhagen as she works in Sweden. We stayed at The Square due to its position and reviews on Trip Advisor. The position is great, near the train station and easy walking to the attractions and shops etc of central Copenhagen. We have stayed in The Scandic Palace and The Wakeup before so knew what facilities to expect in a hotel. The Square was clean, the staff were great and the room and en-suite really nice. The feel of the hotel though was something like a Travelodge not a conventional hotel. The problems also were the bed which was way to soft and a call to reception elicited the response that they did not have firmer matresses. A large piece of hardboard was supplied instead. This didn't stop the bed feeling like you were sleeping on a boat in choppy water. The second issue however trivial it may seem was lack of tea and coffee in the room. We had got a 'superior' room but to get complimentary tea and coffee you had to be 'executive' at an extra 250dk (£30) per night. When we asked reception why this was they said it was normal in scandinavia, they didn't have a response when I pointed out we had got it in both the Scandic Palace and The Wakeup

“Another OK hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Won't go in depth, but this hotel needs to sort a few things out.

One: no WiFi in the rooms. Well, there is, but it is password protected. The front desk deny that there are any networks in the rooms, so won't give a password. They should probably stop calling them The Square Hub 3, 4, etc., if they want to pretend the networks aren't theirs. If it is going to be cable only (rules out iPad use), then at least offer it at check in, rather than forcing guests to come back to the front desk, stand in a check-in queue, just to pick up a cable. Seems a little 2002, not 2012...

Second: the single beds are waaay too narrow. It is like sleeping on a sprung gymnastic beam. (I don't understand why any hotel has twin single beds in a room they're renting to a single adult, but it's a European thing...) It meant a dreadful night's sleep, as any movement would have meant falling out. Maybe 2 foot wide is not a normal mattress size, and I have never experienced this in any hotel before...

The 'rooftop breakfast' promises a 'view over Copenhagen' but the view is of some directly adjacent rooftops. Not quite as promised.

Other than that, well located and clean.

Room Tip: Don't accept twin single beds. You will not be able to perch on them comfortably.

“Good hotel”

Great service and great location. Only downside is that there is no WiFi in the rooms only cable (LAN). Not good for us tablet users.

Helpfull and polite staff. Hotel's location was very central, few minutes walk from metro station. Close to tourist information and tour start locations. The room was rather small. Very comfortable beds, nice decor, very clean. Hotel Breakfast wasn't good enough for its cost.

“Stylish hotel in the heart of Copenhagen”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

Though the reception staff was not particularly friendly, the hotel is in a wonderful location and very chic, quintessentially modern Danish. It's almost across the street from Tivoli, the train station, and city hall square. My 8 year-old son and I enjoyed being in the heart of the action. Our room was very comfortable, clean, and hip with a beautiful bathroom, not that large, but very tastefully done. We only stayed one night, but it was just right for us. We would definitely go back and stay a few nights. It was reasonably priced, too!
