Very convenient if you want to stay just north of downtown. Reception and restaurants on the ground floor are very nice and modern. I ate in the Italian restaurant, and that is highly recommendable. The food was very nice, indeed, as was the atmosphere and interior.
The room, however, is another story. I had a "deluxe" room, but there was nothing deluxe about it. If you are into Cinderella-type retro-romantic rooms, you would definitely like the interior, but it is not my cup of tea. The room had a generally run-down appearance despite a fresh layer of paint and I could clearly hear everything that happened in the room next door.
One major drawback was the room was ice cold, due to one of the two radiators (the one in the bathroom) being out of order. This was a cold winter's day (-5C outside), and it was so cold I had to wear two covers in the bed.
When I wanted to take a warm bath to warm up, I was first disgusted by the fact that several short, curly, black hairs could be found in the bathtub. I decided to rinse them away and go for it, anyway, but to my surprise/disgust, the water was brown!
The next morning I decided to ignore the water color and take a shower anyway to warm up, it was a bit annoying that it was impossible to do so without constantly being in close contact with the shower curtain.
Internet connection in the room worked flawlessly and was free of charge.
The staff was friendly and professional, but not nearly enough to balance the poor room quality and cleanliness.
Maybe the owners should skip having people stay over, and just stay in the restaurant business?
It needs to be commented, though, that while I was there, they were doing some work on the third floor to modernize. Maybe one should wait some months and come back when they are done.
The next time I will be staying downtown, though.
