I don't want to be too hard on Hotel Fox - the location is wonderful, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is top notch! However, I really think this hotel has lost both it's sheen and charm.
We chose the Tokidoki room (I'm a fan of this designer), and the decor was really nice and unusual. The bed and furniture covered the Japanese theme as well as the walls. Unfortunately the chipped paint on the wardrobe, the grubbiness of the hotel carpet and the general wear and tear of the lobby/bar area bring the place down. The photos on the website were clearly taken when the hotel was brand new. The bar, breakfast bar and reception area are all-in-one, which might give it that hostel feel. It's not the kind of hotel bar you'd hang out in.
Unfortunately no tea or coffee making facilities in the room - disappointing when it's minus 5 outside, we don't want to pay a fortune for tea/coffee in reception!
Go here for location, a fab breakfast (fresh juice, yoghurt, fruit, and amazing sandwiches and pastries!) friendly staff with welcoming smiles and wonderful tips. But don't expect a waw factor.
Hotel Fox - a lick of paint here and there, new carpets and some new furniture in that lobby would take away the grubiness, so listen to these reviews!
