“Brilliant location and good value.”

My friend and I stayed for 3 nights at the end of October. The Bethel's location is great and very easy to find.....just a few minutes walk from the Metro station which takes you to the airport in about 15 -
We walked everywhere - the National Museum is well worth a visit and I would recommend the Canal Boat tour (unfortunately the weather wasn't good but the trip was enjoyable anyway). We managed to find Christiania and that was certainly "different" - not for everyone but we had a great Falafel for about £4 which was the cheapest food we found all weekend!!!!
The restaurants opposite the hotel are expensive but we found a couple with set 3 course deals which were absolutely fine....also found the Scottish bar most enjoyable (the food we had there was good too.
The Bethel hotel is old and the rooms are a bit basic but perfectly acceptable. Wasn't too keen o the shower arrangement but the room was clean, all the staff were lovely and very helpful and the breakfast was adequate. One big plus was the free tea and coffee all day (with free Daish pastries if you're lucky)
All in all I would defintely recommend theBethel tof anyone looking for a decent place to stay in a VERY expensive city.

Room Tip: The corner rooms have the best view of Nyhavn but are more expensive.

“Great Value Accomodation in a Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in a very expensive city then this is the answer. The rooms are basic but do have everything you would need for a city break. As it was my partner’s birthday I requested a room with a view and on arrival was given a nice room at the front of the hotel overlooking the iconic buildings in Nyhavn.

We had two single beds pushed together with clean linen. The central heating was great especially as the weather was cold and we had a good flat screen TV with plenty of channels - many in English. The bathroom was large and had a good quality power shower, hairdryer and bath and hand towels each.

The room was light and had two large windows in the bedroom and one large window in the bathroom.

There's plenty of choice for breakfast - fruit juices and hot drinks with breads, meats and pastries etc. - the usual European fayre. The hot drinks are available free of charge 24 hours a day which is a nice touch.

What makes the difference here is the staff who are extremely friendly (appears to be a family business) and cannot do enough to help you with your holiday / break. They are on hand 24 hours a day.

True - the hotel is not contemporary / modern or has the little touches of a large hotel chain and there may be some road noise but if you have come to Copenhagen to sit in your hotel all day and pay over the odds for the privilege enjoying peace and quiet then book an expensive hotel in the country!

If you want a well-run hotel in an excellent location for a reasonable price with that personal touch then this is the once for you!

Room Tip: Pre-request a room with a view

“Many merits, some drawback”

This hotel reminds me of a Youthhostel: the rooms are basic, though there is a television and free internet access. There is poor insulation - you hear sounds from the corridors, and from the backyard, where they pick up trash early in the morning.
Breakfast is also basic: cereals, coffee, some cheese and cold cuts.
The staff is friendly and helpful, there is someone in reception around the clock.
The location is great, right in the middle of Nyhavn, near the Metro at Kongens Nytorv.
I liked the hotel, despite the poor insulation (I wish hotel guests would have enough imagination to realise others might be sleeping at one or two am - but being awakened by late home comers happily talking in loud voices can happen in any hotel).

Room Tip: Rooms adjacent to the court hear parking and garbage collecting, I presume rooms facing the street h...

“Great location, needs an update”

I too agree with some of the previous reviews. This is a great spot to base yourself in Copenhagen and the area (although previously the red light district as I learned) is just gorgeous. It is an easy walk from the Metro station and the tour bus and cruise boat stops are just down the street. The room was cozy and ok but the bathroom left a lot to be desired. With a not so great and rather small curtain (rather than a proper shower door) it was impossible to contain the water in there which left the floor slippery and ment I had to waste towels and I'm sorry to say the bed left a bit to be desired. On the plus side the free wifi is great and I was also able to use the computer in the reception area - for those that drink tea or coffee it was free. Breakfast was just ok.

“Convenient basic affordable hotel in expensive city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Agree with tripadvisor reviews - basic hotel at a great location. Room had television, free in house wifi. However no separate sealed off shower area, and instead an old yellow tinged circular shower curtain partially wraps around us when we had a shower. Once had a rather uncomfortable shower in the morning as there was a lack of hot water.. Other times there was just enough hot water to have a semi comfortable shower in the 3c weather. No kettle in room which was inconvenient. Breakfast was ok, pasties and cold meats. As Copenhagen is an extremely expensive city, we were grateful of a previous reviewers recommendation of a cheap tasty Thai restaurant across the road and took back Thai takeaway to eat in the dining room at the hotel. Great location in nyhavn. Cheap compared to other hotels in the city.
