“Good location, no unpleasant surprises”

We stayed at Maritime for just one night. The hotel is quite near to the square called Kongens Nytorv and the famous shopping&walking street Stroget. Also the famous and traditional Nyhavn, an old-style waterfront area with many bars and reataurants is rather close.
The receptionist spoke fluent english and was helpful. Our room was in the 4th floor (the hotel seems to have five floors). Room itself was average in size but clean and in a good condition: no signs of wear and tear. A funny detail was that our bathroom was almost as big as the room. The bed was ok - not too soft. Sound insulation was of normal level, but we must have had rather quiet neighbours, because I did not hear any noise during the night. The breakfast was a typical Scandinavian one - not overwhelming selection, but all the essentials (ham, cheese, eggs, scrambled eggs, sausages, bread rolls, fruit juice, coffee&tea, cereals). In a nutshell Maritime Hotel is an ok place.

“Everything you need in a small package”

The Maritime hotel is in a great location, easy walking distance from everything we wanted to see. Our first impression was that the room was quite small, but it was very clean, the bed was very comfortable, and we did have room to open our two suitcases without having to use the bed. The bathroom was surprisingly large! Breakfast was excellent. Tea, coffee and hot choc are available all day in the breakfast room, and it is a good place to relax and write postcards.

We stayed at the Maritime for 3 nights pre-cruise.

The good: Location and breakfast included.

The Not so good: The room is so small we had to stack our suitcase in a corner and could barely walk around the bed because of it. We are used to small European room, but this one was smaller than most.

The Bad: The smell, we had to keep our bathroom door room closed at all time, as the smell of the water was awful. I'm not saying it's the fault of the hotel, but we dreaded going to the washroom because of the smell. We noticed the same smell when doing a boat canal tour, so I suspect the water may contain sulfur or something.

Copenhagen was a nice city, but EXTREMELY expensive, so make the most of the included breakfast! We spend 3 days there pre-cruise and that was too long, if we were to do it again we would only spend 1 day there.

We took the train and the subway to get to the cruise ship and it was fairly easy. They had an elevator from the surface to the trains, so no problems with luggage. The trickiest part is getting the tickets, try to have enough changes, there is no attendants, machine only :(

I we were to return to Copenhagen we would definitely try a different hotel, but most probably in the same neighborhood.

“cross the street!”

In September we started a transatlantic cruise from Copenhagen. I waited too long (3wks before we left) to make my hotel reservation so we wound up at the Hotel Maritime in a "family" room. The family room was a accessible through a little alley in the coutyard of the hotel. The room was supposed to be larger and I suppose it was, but it is still small by US standards. There was a fridge and a stove in the hall between two "family rooms" and while we did not use it, it would be convenient for those on a budget (eat in etc) . The staff was nice , room clean etc and the breakfast mediocre at best.

In May, we ended a transatlantic cruise and stayed at the Best Western City Hotel which is directly across the street. I tried to book there again but it was full. There was nothing "wrong" with the Martime, but the rooms were better, and the breakfast was WAY better at the Best Western. If you have a chioce, try the Best Western first.

As other reviewers mentioned, the location of this hotel is great. Two blocks from great restaurants on the Nyhaven canal section. Cost for a taxi from the airport to the hotel was about $80 (400 Krone with tip). Taxi cost to the cruise ship terminal from the hotel was $25 .

Room Tip: Try the Best Western directly accross the street. Breakfast was WAAAAAYYYY better when I stayed ther...

“reasonable hotel in central Copenhagen”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

I stayed in a single room at the Maritime hotel for 5 days in October 2011.

PROS: Location, location, location! You're a short walk away from basically everything you will want to see in Central Copenhagen. The place is clean and tidy - like most things in Denmark - and the breakfast is pretty good, although at times it's hard to find a table as the dining room is quite small.

CONS: Paper-thin walls with very marginal sound isolation. At one point, I could hear my neighbor's cell phone even though it was BUZZING, not ringing! It didn't bother me too much, but if you're a light sleeper, consider staying elsewhere. Also, the room was very small (smaller than most I stayed in in NYC or Tokyo).
