“Do have realistic expectations. Do not compare how much you pay each night. Denmark is a more expensive country.”
Having stayed in this hostel for a couple of nights over my trip to Copenhagen, I would like to provide a fair comment about this place. The place is one of the best priced hostels in copenhagen available. The journey from Copenhagen main station took about 15 minutes, though one should consult the website www.rejseplanen.dk prior to arrival.
However one needs to be aware that this hostel is located in a very old building, furnished in the style of ikea. Another point I found less pleasant was that the bathrooms were decorated in a black theme, and lights were only activated through motion detection. This meant that it was always a pseudo-mystery when visiting the showers, and more importantly, it was hard to determine whether the restrooms were clean, since much of the dirt could potentially be covered in the black background. Also, as I picked up something on the room floor, I realised that there was a thick layer of dust accumulated under the beds. This led me to question the thoroughness of the cleaning done to the rooms.
For breakfast, I did not choose to take breakfast at the hostel, given that there is a bakery providing fresh bread around the corner and a 7-eleven convenience store should there be other needs.
Also, note that 4% commission is charged for the use of foreign credit cards. Though this practice is common in Denmark, 4% is indeed somewhat in the higher range practiced, according to wikitravel.
One should also know the location of the hostel is not as convenient as it shows in Google Maps. Though there are buses plying the stretch, they become very infrequent during the evening hours. This translates to either a long half hour wait at a very quiet bus stop, or a walk down towards the hostel. You should plan your walk back the hostel once you arrive and once you are holding onto a city map. Navigating in Copenhagen on foot can get quite confusing, since there are few geographical landmarks or differences which allows one to locate oneself quickly.
I've seen better places in other european cities under the hostel category. Nevertheless this hostel should still be recommended, given the low price of the stay in this hostel based on Copenhagen standards and the relatively accessible location of this place.
