“Nice hotel by the sea!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

This january I stayed at Strand hotel for two nights. It was the second time I visited the hotel, but this is my first review..

Location: Perfect! Only a short walk to Strøget (main shopping street/area), Nyhavn (dining) and other sights. As the hotel is situated by the sea, you could probably get a great view if your room is facing the coast!

The hotel: If this was in Paris or London I would probably have said something like excellent or superb, however as the hotel is situated in Denmark I would rate this as a perfectly okay/good hotel (- as most hotels in the nordic countries have a high standard). If you are looking for something extraordinary and out of the normal, I would probably look a bit further (or book a suite).
The decor is typically inspired by the sea with mainly blue and yellow neuances. The beds are really comfortable, and the bathrooms are spacious and seem quite newly decorated. Goodgood!

The only downside as I see it was the breakfast. I guess the breakfast was actually really good, but there was not much left when we arrived. In the elevator there was a post that said that the breakfast-room was quite trafficed between 09 am and 10.30 am.. Then how come they do not fill up the trays? No eggs, no bacon and no dessert! I was so looking forward the the Danish pasteries.. :/

All in all I would recommend this hotel to others, but as I said, If your looking for an x-factor, I doubt you'll find it here..

M.

Beware that it is quite cold this time of year and that the wind is super annoying by the sea..

“Nice city hotel”

The hotel is nicely situated at the banks of the channel near the city centre in a town house. Rooms are small but nicely decorated. Hilton style furniture in Ibis-sized rooms. Breakfast buffet in nordish style was nice and staff was very friendly. No extra facilities. Good choice for those who won't stay much in the hotel, but want to have a quality room in the evening.

“Decent location, great service, excellent breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

We stayed there for one night the weekend before Christmas. The location is decent, about 4 blocks from the metro and about 5 blocks from Nyhavn. There really isn't much of a view unless you upgrade to one of the waterfront rooms. The hotel is right on the harbor facing Christianshavn. Parking is a potential issue. We got there about noon on a Saturday and had to do 3 laps to find a spot on the street (3hr limit during daylight hours, free on Sunday) and one of us had to feed the meter after 3hrs of sightseeing.

The rooms were clean, beds were typical, bathrooms seemed recently redone and nice. Size was the only issue. After a year and a half of living and traveling in Europe this was the first time my wife complained about room size. The bed was a double, against the bathroom wall on one side and with about 1.5ft (0.5m) of space between the bed and the outer wall. So if I needed to get in or out of bed I had to crawl from the foot. Didn't bother me but could be annoying if you have to get up in the middle of the night. There was a small balcony. Again not much of a view.

Breakfast was excellent. Get there before 9 as it fills up, even on Sunday. Service was also excellent. No wifi in the room but free Ethernet cable at the desk. Downside for my room was that made it impossible to access the Internet in bed.

“Nice hotel, friendly staff”

We stayed here for 3 nights in July 2010. The hotel was nice and clean, the staff were all friendly and offered advice. We arrived early in the morning (before 9:00am) and our room was ready.

The room was not large, but we didn't stay here much; there is too much to do in Copenhagen. We had a small balcony overlooking part of the city. And the location of the hotel is nice and convenient to public transit and close to Nyhavn, Stroget, Tivoli, Christiansborg Palace, Rosenborg Castle, and lots of the other sights in the city.

Breakfast was good but busy. During the weekends you definitely want to take breakfast earlier to beat the rush, but again the hotel was good about warning you about this.

“Perfect”

Stayed for 3 nights and found the hotel's location to be perfect, close to everyhting we needed, but away from the normal hustle and bustle of the city centre. The room was a little on the small side, but this was made up for in cosyness. Polite and friendly staff. A great breakfast was served with a fantastic range of delicious Danish Pastries.
